Second to tossing worn-out, stinky shoes in the trash, cracking open a shoe box and revealing a fresh pair is one of the most satisfying experiences. This is especially true if you’re like me and wear your favorite sneakers well beyond their expiration date (just ask the pair of Adidas Stan Smiths I wore religiously for almost five years). 

As much as I love a new pair of shoes, the bright-white, ultra-clean look can make me feel a bit self-conscious. Since tossing my Adidas Stan Smiths, the eco-friendly Cariuma Salvas have become a staple in my wardrobe and are a sneaker I wear most days of the week. I have these sneakers in the all-white leather colorway, but they also come in a Warm White Vintage Soft Grain Leather & Suede style that immediately makes me think of Golden Goose. These sneakers are constructed from LWG-certified Gold Rated leather with a recycled mesh lining, a cork and bio-based foam insole, and rPET and organic cotton laces, plus an excellent rubber sole that provides a ton of traction. 

Aside from their scuffed-up style and eco-friendly construction, I love that they offer a lot of arch support and keep your soles comfy for all-day wear. I’ve logged over 20 miles in one day—I know, excessive—in mine without any throbbing (and on several occasions). And, at $175 a pop, these are a whopping $420 cheaper than a pair of Golden Goose sneakers.
