Clothing brand TravisMathew has been seen on popular athletes and personalities, including Travis Kelce, Jon Rahm, Kealia Watt, and Molly Sims. This fall, the brand is making a case to take a spot in your wardrobe rotation. It recently launched a new fall collection with outerwear, athleisure, loungewear, and accessories to help transition your closet as temperatures drop.

Since autumn calls for layers, I tried three outerwear pieces from the brand’s new collection to see if they’re actually worth the hype (spoiler: they are). As someone who lives in New York City with limited closet space, I try to be mindful of the pieces in my wardrobe and even more discerning of jackets, since they can take up even more room.

Rustic Retreat Bomber
Sizes: XXS-2XL (Alisa is wearing a size XS)
Colorways: 1 (Alisa is wearing Heather Light Grey)

This bomber jacket is an amazing transition piece, as it’s not too thick but enough to keep you warm during the early morning and late night breeze. I especially love that it has a cropped length and works perfectly with high-waisted bottoms, which I am pretty much always in. Besides the fit, the unique “folded” sleeve design adds a chic touch that elevates the look and makes the jacket feel less casual versus the gartered cuff on typical bombers.

Sizing Note: I’m 5’4 and usually wear a size small. I’d recommend sizing down if you’re on the petite side like me, since the fit is already oversized to begin with.

Mont Blanc 3.0
Sizes: 2XS-2XL (Alisa is wearing M)
Colorways: 2 (Alisa is wearing Chestnut)

Would any fall or winter closet be complete without a puffer jacket? The Mont Blanc 3.0 is an easy choice if you’re in the market for one. I’d say this jacket is on the thicker side, not the kind you can fold up, since this is ideal for consistent, cool temperatures instead of transition periods. It feels warm when put on, has a soft and comfortable material with a stylish design, and can be versatile for your daily work commutes, errands, or travel.

Sizing Note: I chose a size medium here, knowing I’d be wearing it with thicker sweaters eventually. I could have gone away with a small, but I prefer sizing up for this particular style.

Moontide Bonded Puffer Vest
Sizes: 2XS-2XL (Alisa is wearing an S)
Colorways: 2 (Alisa is wearing Black)

A vest is an essential layering piece, especially in the fall, when the weather keeps fluctuating throughout the day. It’s an ideal in-between garment because we’ve all been in that awkward situation where you’re sweating under your jacket, but feel cold when you remove it. The Moontide Vest has a puffer design that can be worn above thermals, sweaters, and hoodies. It seems like a basic style, but it adds texture to a simple top that creates a more interesting look. I think this would look cute paired with leggings for a fall workout, too!

Sizing Note: I thought I could do a Medium, similar to my puffer jacket choice, but it just made the piece look too oversized on me, given the amount of extra space in the arm hole that would have worked for a jacket, but not a vest. The Small is a great in-between where there’s just enough space for a hoodie.

Final Thoughts

The main downside for me is that I had a hard time figuring out sizing. It obviously boils down to preference on how you want your jacket to fit, but from my personal experience, TravisMathew’s pieces seem to run big on petite frames. These items can also be considered an investment. They feel and look high-quality and can stand the test of time, and their stylish aesthetic is a huge plus. Overall, I’m thrilled about these pieces and am looking forward to getting more wear from them on my foliage hikes and travels!
