The Internet’s (and My) Favorite Washable Mary Jane Flats Are on Sale for the First Time, Ever

For the first time since the brand’s inception in 2016, Rothy’s is having a site-wide sale for Black Friday that includes all styles. Yes, the Points. Yes, the Almond Loafer. I’m over-the-moon excited, because Rothy’s is my go-to brand for sustainable flats (they’re constructed from recycled materials like plastic bottles) that are machine-washable and incredibly comfortable.

A Quick Review of Rothy’s Mary Jane

I’m especially giddy about the Square Mary Jane, which quickly became my most-worn shoe this year. As someone who lived in those cheap-o Mary Jane flats that Urban Outfitters used to sell for like $50 (you can buy the exact same ones from Amazon for like $12 , LOL) between 2004 and 2012, my 30-something feet and wardrobe were past due for an upgrade. Like, expired. The Rothy’s Square Mary Jane, I rapidly learned, was everything I ever wanted in a Mary Jane flat: It was chic, comfortable, and low-maintenance. It also went with every outfit in my closet — I even wore the shoes to a live TV segment on KTLA News back in July (I wanted shoes that were comfortable, to avoid tripping and falling on TV, yet stylish, because TV).

Flexible and stretchy (yet still structured!), the Square Mary Jane requires zero break-in period. Its soles are made from natural rubber, and are nice and grippy to prevent falls. I’ve worn my MJs to work, on errands, on dog walks, and sometimes I even wear them around the house because I forget they’re still on. See below what they look like IRL in various scenarios!
