I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. Naked dresses are here to stay. The look—unsurprisingly revealing, as the name suggests—has dominated red carpet season, with Hollywood’s hottest starlets showing skin in highly sought-after labels. But like any trend, it risks feeling tired with so many barely-three outfits flooding our feeds. I get it. Thankfully, fan-favorite stars breathed new life into the trend at the 2025 Billboard Women in Music celebration in Los Angeles on March 29.
We’re calling the see-through looks at this year’s event sneaky naked dresses because of their unexpected spin. These dresses weren’t the typical, ultra-sheer, floor-length gowns that show everything from nipples to ass. Instead, they were more innovative, more playful, more fun.
Take Doechii, for example. She graced the event in an archival Donna Karan gown featuring a square neckline and black velvet paneling that partially shielded her breasts and other lady parts. She gave it her signature Swamp Princess touch with a coin belt, chunky bangles, and strappy heels. The styling brought the look from sexy to sexy and effortlessly cool. She finished it off with a vintage Fendi bag.
Suki Waterhouse also turned heads in a statement-making Valentino look. And trust us—don’t try this at home. Her dress featured a pink sheer bodice with lace-like suspenders covering her chest, flowing into a butter-yellow sequin skirt adored with floral appliqués and a bow at the waist. The hem? Trimmed with fur. A total fashion moment.
