Cate Blanchett stays being one of my favorite celebs to watch out for on a red carpet. From her custom Haider Ackerman dress at Cannes last year that resembled the Palestinian flag to her regular outfit repeating, she is always on my personal Best Dressed List. And at the 2025 Golden Globes, she wore a gown she had previously worn to the premiere of her film Rumours at Cannes in May of last year.
Blanchett wore a custom gold Louis Vuitton gown last night to the Globes, which of course, she’d borrowed from her own closet. Her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart hinted to People that we might see it again after Blanchett wore it the first time. “I see her wearing it her entire life. Look for it again,” Stewart said.
This is not the first time Blanchett has repeated her red carpet looks. It’s crazy that it’s such a noteworthy, newsworthy thing for a celeb to wear the same thing twice, but why would you not wear a custom designer gown that took impeccable craft and labor to create, not to mention, of course, the money it cost to buy? Back in 2020, Blanchett wore an Esteban Cortazar gown to the opening of the Venice Film Festival, which she had previously worn to a movie premiere in 2015. Her stylist posted to Instagram, saying, “IT’S CHIC TO REPEAT!…In [Cate’s] words, beautiful things can come out of sustainability.” https://www.instagram.com/p/CEpayOts9db
