A new year brings new ‘dos—especially in Hollywood. Our favorite celebrities are entering the latest era with fresh chops, colors, and styles. They’re trying new things, and starting trends. Our Pinterest boards are filled with inspiration.
Some A-listers, namely Emma Stone, came out the gate swinging. The actress debuted a pixie cut at the 2025 Golden Globes on January 5, and we were gagged. Her warm, reddish-brown mane featured wispy tapered layers that gently fell on her forehead. Fans were quick to suspect that Stone’s dramatic makeover is due to her role in the upcoming film Bugonia, which follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap a high-powered CEO of a major company, per IMDb. If you’re wondering about the mastermind(s) behind Stone’s transformation, look no further than Tracey Cunningham and Mara Roszak. Cunningham, Stone’s longtime colorist, gave the actress the “nutmeg” hue, which she said is a “smidge” darker than Stone’s “usual color.” Roszak was in charge of the scissors, shaping Stone’s pixie until she was satisfied. She then went in with the new L’Oréal Airlight Pro to “set the direction for the hair to lay.”
Stone isn’t the only red head in town. Keke Palmer kicked off the One of Them Days press tour with auburn hair, quite the switch up from her usual jet black strands. (If you didn’t know, Palmer stars alongside SZA in the Issa Rae-produced film, which follows two friends as they race against the clock to avoid eviction.) In addition to the color, Palmer debuted blonde highlights on a few face-framing pieces.
