Shameik Moore reprises his role as Miles Morales / Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. 

On what he learned about his character in the second movie while recording his lines, he told Collider, “I’ve learned that Miles has some real heart, he has courage. I’ve learned that while we become confident, we’re learning every day and we can learn from everybody. It’s easy to want validation from people we look up to, or our lovers, or the people we respect the most, but it’s about having that self-validation and finding your moral compass, and following your gut and figuring out how you wanna wear that mask. I feel like that’s what I learned while recording it, that’s what I learned while watching it. And I hope that’s what they, the audience, learns, or feels, while doing the same.”

Hailee Steinfeld as Spider-Gwen

Hailee Steinfeld reprises her role as Gwen Stacy / Spider-Gwen in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

She talked about her heroic arc in the new Spider-Verse film to Looper. “I feel like the filmmakers weren’t about to let this bold voice not be heard, and we start and end this story with Gwen looking for that sense of belonging and understanding where she’s at in her life. She is in a similar place of trying to figure it out and get it right and feel good about who she is and make her father proud. I believe her sole purpose is to help people, and that’s why she is wherever she is in this film. It’s for that reason.”

Jake Johnson as Peter. B Parker / Spider-Man

Jake Johnson reprises his role as Peter B. Parker / Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.

On the growth of his character from the first Spider-Verse movie, he told ScreenRant, “Anyone could wear the mask,” is the heart of the first one. And what’s really nice about it is that it explodes in this one, where you actually see everybody really can wear the mask and anybody can do it.” He continued, “The evolution in the first one [is that] Peter didn’t want to be a mentor. Then, in getting to know Miles, he saw the beauty in that position and saw the beauty in the next evolution and another way of doing it. I think what he learned from Miles was, ‘Maybe there’s a whole thing to fatherhood. Maybe there’s some real greatness in what’s to come,’ rather than just the way it was.”

Oscar Isaac as Miguel O’Hara / Spider-Man 2099

Oscar Isaac portrays Miguel O’Hara / Spider-Man 2099 in Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse. We see a glimpse of the character in the first movie during the post-credits scene. He leads a band of Spider-People from different universes as the Spider-Society. He noted that his iteration of Spider-Man is unlike other types of Spider-People. “It’s been really fun working on that with [producers] Phil Lord and Kemp Powers. The thing I can say is, what makes this character so funny is that he’s the one Spider-Man that doesn’t have a sense of humor. Because all of them act like– they’re like wisecracks, right? Everybody wisecracks, except this guy just doesn’t. He’s a very serious Spider-Man.”

Brian Tyree Henry as Jefferson Davis

Brian Tyree Henry reprises his role as Jefferson Davis in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. Jefferson is Miles’ father who is also a cop. 

Henry reflected upon his character to People as he said, “Jefferson holds a place in my heart just because he’s the kind of father I wanted to see on the screens growing up,” says Henry of his character. “I really wanted to make sure that fathers come to see themselves reflected in Jefferson — fathers that are there for their sons and will do anything for them.”

Luna Lauren Velez as Rio Morales

Luna Lauren Velez reprises her role as Rio Morales, Miles’ mother in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. 

In an interview with Screen Rant, she talked about her fictional son’s life as a superhero with double identity. “He’s carrying the secret that he can’t share with his father about what he knows to be true about his uncle, who in some way in the first one helped sort of shape him. And now he’s got this, on top of everything else. He’s got the weight of the world on his shoulders.”

Jason Schwartzman as The Spot

Jason Schwartzman plays the villain known as The Spot in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. The Spot can open inter-dimensional portals on his body. 

Issa Rae as Jessica Drew

Issa Rae plays Jessica Drew in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. 

She talked about playing a pregnant superhero to People. “While I can’t identify with the superhero part, I can identify with other elements. The fact that there is a Black woman who is beautiful and a superhero is incredible.”

 “It literally is just such a good movie,” she continued. “But I think the icing on the cake is how representative of people around the world it is, how representative of subcultures it is, how international it is.”

Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar / Spider-Man

Karan Soni plays Pavitr Prabhakar / Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. Pavitr is an Indian Spider-Man who lives in Mumbaittan.

He gushed about the representation in the film and how the film will be translated and dubbed into multiple Indian Languages to FilmFare, “I think it’s so exciting that the movie is being dubbed in nine Indian languages. It’s just very exciting because I grew up in India, and we absolutely love Spider-Man. When it was announced that I was playing him, I cannot tell you how many messages I got from people. Firstly, they were just excited, and then there were a few more serious messages, saying mainly, ‘Don’t mess this up.’ I don’t think we did!”

Daniel Kaluuya as Hobart ‘Hobie’ Brown / Spider-Punk

Daniel Kaluuya plays Hobart ‘Hobie’ Brown / Spider-Punk in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. 

He talked about his preparation for his character and how his London roots helped him. “I think the fact that he’s from New London and he’s a resistor, he’s counterculture,” Kaluuya told IGN. “He’s from the place that I grew up, Camden, which is very punk and we’ve got punk history, a massive punk beat. We had a lot of conversations about what that would sound like.”

Kaluuya continues, “Part of the multiverse is that maybe this character has a lot of London slang; he’s an amalgamation. Because London’s such a melting pot in a similar way to New York, it’s like, ”How about if he speaks a bit of Cockney? He speaks a bit old English. It’s an amalgamation of all that’s within London, so it’s a really exciting thing to take on. But he just has his own language and his own slang and his own dialect in that sense, but it’s all built from true Londoners.”

Danielle Perez voices Charlotte Webber / Sun-Spider in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. Her character is a disabled superhero trying to navigate the Spider-Verse. She told People about the importance of representation on screen. “You can do anything with animation, and to be disabled in an animated universe is just so exciting because we get to show the power that we have.”

Rachel Dratch voices the Principal in Miles’ school in Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.
