Seven years after the character’s debut in Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, The Flash is back with his own movie. In true superhero movie fashion, many DC fans might be wondering to stick around after the movies to see if The Flash has any post-credits scenes.
The latest installment to the DC Universe has the following synopsis: “Barry Allen uses his super speed to change the past, but his attempt to save his family creates a world without super heroes, forcing him to race for his life in order to save the future.” If you want a spoiler-y description, director Andy Muschietti described the film, “It’s basically time travel that includes the origin story, which is basically the mother and the father, and their accident. All of those elements were sort of attached to this thing. That’s why in my opinion, it was like you’re killing several birds with the same stone in a way. And, of course, time travel is always a good idea. Batman is always a good idea.”

What’s the meaning behind The Flash’s post-credits scene? Major spoilers ahead: Read at your own risk. The Flash’s post-credits scene brings a beloved Justice League character back in a funny manner: Arthur Curry aka Aquaman. The Flash and Aquaman sit in a bar and The Flash recounts all the stuff that happens in the movie. The Flash talks about how he doesn’t’ get as drunk as easily because of his metabolism and an obviously drunk Aquaman says he doesn’t get as drunk either. Barry goes on to discuss the different Batman situation when he changed up the timelines. Arthur asks if he was the same in the different timelines, when Barry reluctantly says he’s the same. (Spoiler alert: he’s not, in fact he didn’t even exist in the timeline.) The scene ends with Aquaman walking into a pole and falling into a puddle and tells Barry, “Thank you for making it more simpler for me, Mr. Simple More.”
The scene inherently sets up anticipation for the next installment in the DCEU Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom which will be releasing in December 20, 2023.
Will there be a sequel to The Flash? There are some plans for The Flash’s sequel. David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick wrote a sequel script and if there’s box office success, there might be potential for it to come to fruition. DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn said that The Flash sets up and resets the continuity of the DCEU and, alongside Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
There have been strong favoritism to keeping Ezra Miller in the role despite their legal controversies. During a Q&A at the Warner Bros. lot, The Flash director Andy Muschietti and producer Barbara Muschietti spoke publicly for the first time about Miller. “Ezra is well now. We’re all hoping that they get better… They’re taking the steps to recovery,” Muschietti responded to the question of how Miller was doing. “They’re dealing with mental health issues, but they’re well. We talked to them not too long ago, and they’re very committed to getting better.”
A month later, Muschietti stood by Miller despite their past behavior, saying there was no discussion of Miller being recast. “I don’t think there’s anyone that can play that character [The Flash] as well as they did,” Muschietti said. “The other depictions of the character are great, but this particular vision of the character, they just excelled in doing it.”
