Just last week, we fell in love with Kate Beckinsale’s textured updo. And now, Jennifer Garner has followed with a more structured, but messy nonetheless, updo. We’re pretty classic ladies over here at Daily Makeover, so we love switching up a simple updo like this French twist just a little. As fall approaches, we can expect to see a lot more of these messy hairstyles that are obviously more conposed than the now trendy beach waves, but still have a fun summer appeal. Here’s how to get Jennifer’s:
Get The Look: Rachel Bilson’s Edgy Updo
Step 1: Start by applying a texturizing spray, such as Joico Design Texture Spray ($14.95, Beautyencounter.com), all over hair.
Step 2: Tease all of the hair just above the crown.
Step 3: Just like a French twist, twist the hair to the right of the head while pushing up to gather height and volume at the crown. Keep strands in place with bobby pins. For this look, you’ll probably need at least 15.
Step 4: After twisting, gather the makeshift ponytail and tuck into the twist.
Get The Look: Duchess Kate’s Elegant Chignon
Step 5: Pull single strands out throughout the updo to give a messy vibe. Also pull two strands out in front and create a small center part.
Step 6: Apply a strong hold hairspray, such as Pantene Pro-V Classic Style Hairspray UnforgettableExtra Strong Hold ($3.99, Drugstore.com) over the entire style to keep in place.
What do you think of this messy updo?
