Oral health is everything. It doesn’t just prevent stinky breath and ensure your gums and teeth stay in tip-top shape; Poor dental hygiene can lead to digestive issues, cardiovascular disease, respiratory concerns, and cognitive decline, so scrubbing those pearly whites can really do the most for your overall health.

Having a toothbrush you actually want to use such as the Laifen Wave Special Electric Toothbrush can help you stay on top of the daily habit. Think of it as the Stanley effect: Having a pretty water bottle to sip from means you drink more water during the day. A well-designed, functional toothbrush can essentially do the same thing for your teeth.

Why We Love the Laifen Electric Toothbrush

Why Dentists Love the Laifen Electric Toothbrush
Laifen Wave Special Electric Toothbrush
If you’re looking for the best electric toothbrush, the Laifen Wave Special Electric Toothbrush is the way to go. This viral electric toothbrush boasts 60° oscillations and 26,000 vibrations per minute, plus it’s gentle enough to use on sensitive gums.

Dentists also swear by this toothbrush. “I’ve been using the Laifen toothbrush for almost a year now, and I really like it,” says Dr Joyce Kahng (aka, Joyce the Dentist on TikTok), a cosmetic and restorative dentist. “First of all, it’s beautiful—super sleek and minimal—which matters to me because I want the things I use every day to feel intentional and look good on my counter,” she notes. “Functionally, it’s very easy to use—it holds a charge for a long time, is simple to recharge, and makes my teeth feel really clean.” Dr. Kahng says the combination of oscillating and sonic vibrations also do a great job of getting into all of the little areas.

While it’s not the cheapest electric toothbrush on the market, Dr. Kahng says it’s worth the investment for the sleek look and overall effective performance. Additionally, the toothbrush can save you money over time because the replacement heads are actually affordable compared to other brands (a 3-pack costs $16 and a 6-pack costs $27). “That’s a huge plus because electric toothbrushes can become a recurring cost with all the replacement parts,” Dr Kahng notes. “Laigen’s replacement heads are much more affordable compared to a lot ot the bigger brands, which makes it a smarter long-term investment.”

Features: 60° oscillations, 26,000 vibrations per minute, ultra-fine bristles

Do Dentists Actually Recommend Electric Toothbrushes?

Dr. Kahng says she prefers an electric toothbrush and notes that studies show that they clean more effectively than manual ones, which is reason enough to invest in an electric toothbrush. However, she says it is still possible to get a good clean with a manual toothbrush if you’re using the right technique.

“The issue is that most people don’t brush properly with a manual toothbrush,” she notes. “[Electric toothbrushes] often come with built-in timers, consistent motion, and settings that guide you through a full two-minute brushing cycle, which is something most people tend to rush through otherwise.”

For this reason, Dr. Kahng recommends using an electric toothbrush over a manual brush since it makes things easier and more effective.
