Every season, a new set of colors takes over our wardrobes. There are timeless colors that come back every year (wine red for fall, pastels for spring), and there are some hues that are a bit more ephemeral (Remember Brat Green?)

Something similar happens in the world of interior design, only the trend cycles last a little longer. Year after year, we see people gravitate toward the same set of colors to furnish their homes. It’s no doubt that warm and earthy neutrals have stood the test of time, but there are popular statement shades that come into style, too.

Colors rule the way we feel, affecting our moods and overall well-being. You may have noticed that bright, warm colors like red and orange can make us feel energized (think sunrises and lava), while cool blues and greens can bring about a sense of balance and serenity (think mountains and oceans).

Perhaps that’s reason enough to pay attention to home color trends. The hues of our homes can spark joy and put our subconscious minds at ease, so picking a nice color for any decor-piece is more important than you think.

Adding color to your home isn’t limited to wallpaper, rugs, and furniture. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, reaffirms that homes are indeed becoming more colorful, thanks to less obvious means of decor. “Kitchens, bedrooms, and bathrooms are showing more experimentation with color primarily because of the increased artistry in accessories like small appliances and kitchen gadgetry,” she says. “There is also more colorful patterning in linens, and other bathroom accessories as well as bedding.”

Of course, when it comes to trends, different things can coincide in popularity. Nostalgic, familiar colors will always make their comebacks; at the same time, something new and unexpected will take off. This is the case for 2025.
