Are Alex and Kat still together from The Ultimatum Season 2? Alex Chapman and Kat Shelton were two of five original couples on Season 2 of The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On. Alex, a 32-year-old software salesman, was the Ultimatum Receiver, while Kat, a 28-year-old travel nurse, was the Ultimatum Giver.
At the Choice, Alex and Kat both recoupled with new partners. Alex recoupled with Roxanne Kaiser, whose original partner was Antonio Mattei, while Kat recoupled with Antonio. Alex and Kat reunited at The Changeover. Both Alex and Kat seemed to be done with their trial marriages. Kat’s relationship with Antonio never seemed to become romantic, while Alex’s relationship with Roxanne ended after he lied to her parents about opening the door for him and claimed to Antonio that Roxanne didn’t respect him.
So are Alex and Kat still together from The Ultimatum Season 2? The answer is yes. Alex and Kat were one of four couples who got engaged in The Ultimatum Season 2 finale, along with Roxanne and Antonio; Ryann and James; and Riah and Trey. They confirmed they were still together during The Ultimatum Season 2 reunion, where they also revealed their wedding date. “The plan is May 10, next year,” Alex told co-hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey. He also showed his and Kat’s “save the date” magnets, which they hadn’t sent out yet. “It feels really different than dating,” Kat said. “Actually, Alex is, I think now, more ready to settle down than I am.”
Kat also confirmed that she and Alex were thinking about buying a house and starting a family. “Yeah, I’m excited. It feels a (little like) baby fever,” Alex said, explaining explained that his brother also recently had a child, which allowed him to be an uncle for the first time. When Alex’s ex, Roxanne, noted that he had also talked about children with her, Kat defended Alex and explained that Alex had talked to her about kids before The Ultimatum but it wasn’t a serious converstion until after filming ended. “We had talked about all of that before,” Kat said. “But it’s a difference of talking about it and being, like, this is happening. I’m ready for this, like, right now versus a joke of, ‘Let’s have 12 kids.’”
In an interview with Us Weekly in August 2023, Antonio, who was Roxanne’s original partner, explained why he thought Alex and Roxanne slept together during their trial marriage. “He was speaking into existence all my deepest insecurities. I mean, Roxanne is just this crazy successful woman, and my history has not been the same,” Antonio said of when Alex claimed that Roxanne told him that she thought Antonio was weak. “I’ve always kind of grappled with that. Like, ‘God, does she really want to be with me? Is she settling for me? What is it?’ And then for him to say [that], it hurt. It really hurt.”
He continued, “So Alex heard all the ugly things about my relationship with Roxanne. So for him to have that opinion, I get it. … I just don’t know that I would’ve felt that I had the same authority he did to speak on the situation.”
Antonio also explained that he thought Alex and Roxanne slept together after Alex told him that he should sleep in the same bed as Kat during their trial marriage. “My first thought [when Alex said that] was that Roxanne and him slept together, and so he wanted Kat to sleep with me so she couldn’t be mad at him,” Antonio said. “That’s really where I initially started out and pretty much the opinion that I held until, you know, [I] found out that that wasn’t the case.”
Before they confirmed they were still together, Alex and Kat hinted at their relationship status on their social media. Both Alex and Kat still follow each other on Instagram. The Ultimatum Season 2 is believed to have filmed from September 2022 to December 2022 based on the social media hiatuses of the cast members. Both Alex and Kat still have photos from before they filmed The Ultimatum Season 2 still up on their Instagrams. In June 2022, Kat posted an Instagram photo of her and Alex on a hike with the caption, “NC summers.” She also posted a photo the month before in May 2022 of them at a wedding. Alex, for his part, posted an Instagram photo of him and Kat on a hike with friends in September 2022. “Trippy weekend,” he captioned the post. Though these posts were shared before The Ultimatum Season 2 started filming, they seemed to be clues that Alex and Kat were still together given that they still had them up on their Instagrams.
