Bill Hader (2022, 2023 – present)
Ali Wong dated Bill Hader in 2022 and reconnected in 2023 and they still continue to date to this date. Ali recalled how the moment he found out about her divorce. “Hey, Ali. I just happened to hear the news of your divorce today, and I gotta tell you…I’m excited,” she recalls him saying. “I am, Ali, because, look, I have had a crush on you forever, and I actually told my best friend years ago that you were my dream girl. And I know this sounds crazy, but, uh, I want you to be my girlfriend.” But Ali had already downloaded and paid for a very exclusive dating app. “And I was like, ‘I just paid $250. You seem really nice, but I gotta get my money’s worth.”
She shared that he sent flowers to her hotel in London and when she told her girlfriends, “they were like, ‘Oh my God, that is so sweet. I am so jealous.'” While her male friends, “were like, ‘That dude sounds like a psychopath.’ … That’s how cheap and lazy men have become, that now when a fellow man commits any act of kindness, any romantic gesture, it must be a symptom of an undiagnosed mental illness.”
“I did fall in love again. Some of you might know who the guy is. And it just so happens to be the man who sent me all of those flowers in Europe.” Hader also revealed that he was the person who poured tea into the rice bowl when she took him out to a Chinese restaurant in the San Fernando Valley. “And when I did that, the look on Ali’s face was a mixture of embarrassment and she was so stoked,” he said. “She had this look on her face like, ‘You’re in the act, motherfucker.’” When they both exited the stage, Bill Hader also told the crowd, “All I have to say is, Ali Wong is off the market.”
The two confirmed their relationship in April 2023 and walked the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards red carpets in 2024. She shared to Access Hollywood that they keep details of their relationship “very selectively private.” She added that their relationship works because “It’s just also, like, we’re both, like, in our 40s and parents.”
