Not much is known publicly about Anthony Anderson’s ex-wife, Alvina Anderson, but we do know they were college sweethearts who met in 1989 while both studying at Howard University.

“My sophomore year, her freshman year, I knew a girl who lived in the apartment, so I went to knock on the door to invite her to this party that me and my buddies were having. My wife answered the door. I was like, ‘I was coming to invite Stacey to this party we’re having.’ Stacey didn’t show up, but my wife did – and we have been together ever since that night,” he told Parade in December 2021.

“And I was just me: I got there early, she didn’t see nobody else, she was, ‘All right, I’m gonna rock out with this dude!'” He added: “We got married on our 10-year anniversary. She’s quiet, I’m loud. Opposites attract.”

Alvina filed for divorce in 2015 but the couple seemed to overcome their differences and the petition for their first divorce was scrapped in 2017.

Then, on March 25, 2022, Alvina filed for divorce for a second time. She sought spousal support as well as payment of her attorney fees. In court documents obtained by People, Anderson was ordered to pay his former spouse a monthly base amount of $20,000.

In the event that the Black-ish actor’s gross income exceeds “$2,000,000 per year,” he would be required to pay Alvina 20 percent of that gross amount, which would increase her payment to $400,000. In September 2023, Anderson and his wife of 22 years, Alvina, settled their divorce 19 months after initially announcing their split for the second time, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
