While it’s not uncommon for dating show contestants to not follow each other on social media to not spoil the season, both Brooklyn and Layne follow other contestants from Are You My First?, which may hint that they’re no longer together. Brooklyn and Layne seemingly also aren’t Venmo friends and haven’t sent each other any Venmo transactions in the time between when Are You My First? finished filming and when it aired. 

During the Are You My First? Season 1 finale, Layne asked Brooklyn to be his girlfriend, to which she said yes. “The first time I walked in here, you caught my eye. I was like, ‘Oh, man. Please Lord, let her be single. I was nervous and I was scared about being vulnerable with someone. I had never been in love before necessarily. With you, I feel so comfortable. Sara Brito, a 28-year-old student from San Diego, California, and Jake Rohr split in the Are You My First? Season 1 finale after Sara expressed her doubts when Jake asked her to be his girlfriend. 

“No, I can’t be your girlfriend. What was missing from me was not only the physical, but receiving mixed signals from you. There were things that you might’ve been doing that were a little controlling. My voice matters, so losing myself on someone else’s path isn’t what I want,” Sara said. Jake responded, “I apologize for any areas that I was controlling in. Everything that I was trying to do was definitely with love in my heart. I guess it doesn’t look that way.” 

He continued in a confessional interview, “It doesn’t feel good to be rejected. It also doesn’t feel good to see a future and not to see it to fruition. It’s sad because I could definitely see myself losing my virginity to her, but I think she’s an amazing woman and any man would be lucky to have her.” 

While Sara and Jake broke up in the Are You My First? finale, they seem to remain friends, given that they both follow each other on Instagram. 

Michael & Rachael (Season 1)
