Ever since Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan’s breakup was announced, fans have been trying to look back and piece together a timeline of what happened and when. Carpenter and Keoghan, who met at Paris Fashion Week in 2023 and were first spotted out together in December of 2023 had a very high-profile relationship during the time they were together. However, on December 3, PEOPLE confirmed that the two had ended their romantic relationship.
Very quickly, cheating rumors surfaced. And those rumors soon got specific, with influencer Breckie Hill being named the woman involved with Keoghan. However, neither Carpenter nor Keoghan have given any credence to the rumors, with a source even telling Us Weekly that their busy schedules were the main reason for their breakup.

“It’s been challenging for their relationship since she started going on tour and has been gone a lot,” the outlet reported. “Their schedules were not aligning. All the time spent apart it was hard to maintain a relationship amid her career exploding.”
But celebrity breakups are always supposedly on good terms, even when they aren’t. So while we get all the details, here’s a timeline of what was reported and when regarding the Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan cheating drama.
Hill’s video caption called IShowSpeed her “husband.” Just a few days before, she suggested meeting up with him. There was never any confirmation of whether she was indeed dating IShowSpeed.
DeuxMoi posts a blind item that describes a breakup between a “rising pop star” and her “foreign actor boyfriend” due to the fact that the boyfriend was cheating.
The post went on the say the two were “done for good” and that “on the closing night of her biggest tour to date in LA, he was busy getting very cozy at San Vicente Bungalows with a blonde, semi-famous, LA-based influencer (who’s particularly big on Tiktok)” And not just that, the post also added that the pop star found out “he had been chatting with said influencer behind her back for months in a not-innocent-at-all way.”
But there’s more! It wasn’t just chatting, according to this report. Apparently, the influencer had even “gone to find him while he was filming in the UK, eager to keep him company while his girlfriend was touring in the US.”
The report even indicates whoever this actor was had strayed before and had been forgiven, but this last indiscretion was the last straw. “He had messed up before and she had forgiven him but nothing as serious and infidelity is where she draws the line.”
As to why Carpenter would want to keep this under wraps? There was an answer in this report, as well. “The popstar wants to keep the situation under wraps at least until January because her next single is a steamy song inspired by their relationship and she’s already filmed a music video with very obvious references to him…”
We’re not saying this is true, but we are saying that the fourth single of Short ‘n’ Sweet is Bed Chem, which does seem to be about Keoghan. And we haven’t seen a music video yet.
On December 3, PEOPLE confirmed that the two had ended their romantic relationship, with an insider telling the outlet, “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.”
Breckie Hill threw fuel into the fire by reposting videos that suggested she was the LA-based influencer Keoghan had cheated on Carpenter with. She also liked videos hinting at the supposed infidelity. Later, however, it seems Hill found the attention a little much because she restricted her Instagram pictures from being shared outside of the app and stopped engaging with content about Keoghan and Carpenter.
Us Weekly reports the split was amicable. “They are cordial, and it was not contentious. Both agreed it wasn’t working. That was something they struggled with, being in different places all the time,” the source told the magazine.
Carpenter was all smiles as she attended a screening at NYC’s Paris Theater for her Netflix special titled A Nonsense Christmas. The singer wore a mini dress with black-and-white fur and matching black-and-white heels.
She publicly commented on the rumors days after they emerged. “I just recently got out of the hospital. I got into a skiing accident and I broke my spine,” Hill, 21, said in a Saturday, December 7, TikTok video. “Now that I’m out of the hospital, I just wanted to make this video and address these rumors that have been circulating all throughout the internet.”
“To put it simply for you all, no, I did not get with Barry. I have never encountered this man in my life. The only time I’ve seen him is on my TV from watching Saltburn,” she said. “I reposted this video [of the rumors] that showed up on my ‘For You Page,’ claiming that I was home-wrecking Sabrina Carpenter’s relationship just simply because I thought it was so ridiculous,” Hill explained in her video. “I’m sorry, but if I really was the one getting with Barry, why in the world would I be reposting about it?”
She added, “Coming from someone who has been cheated on in several different relationships, I would never want to home-wreck any relationship or put any girl through that pain ever. … This whole story is so crazy.”
