As someone with small wrists, I understand the struggle of finding bracelets that fit properly. For the most part, our biggest jewelry woe is the constant threat of our favorite bracelet slipping off when we aren’t paying attention. But bracelets that are too big can also easily get caught on clothing and other items, are more prone to breaking, and, honestly, are just so annoying to deal with.

Best Bracelets for Small Wrists at a Glance

When it comes to bracelets for small wrists, my biggest piece of advice is to find a jeweler you love and trust who can essentially tailor your jewelry to better fit your petite wrists. That said, this hack isn’t always worth it—especially on those more costume pieces that you don’t want to spend a ton of money on. Because, just like clothing alterations, resizing jewelry isn’t cheap. While you might splurge on shortening a solid gold chain, it’s always better to find a bracelet that fits out of the box.

What to Look for in Bracelets for Small Wrists

Length is one of the most important factors and the first thing you should consider when looking for a bracelet that fits well. If the bracelet is too long, check for adjustability. Many chain styles come with a few extra jump rings that allow you to customize the fit a little better. Once you find the right setting, you can also snip off any extra jump rings so the bracelet doesn’t have a tail. In addition to extra jump rings, adjustability might also look like a tie-on design (like the trendy fabric bracelet or classic friendship bracelet styles) or a bolo clasp.

Some companies also offer specific sizing, which can be so helpful. If you’re shopping a bracelet small, medium, and large sizes, check the size chart to learn more about the length and measure your wrist to ensure a proper fit. To measure your wrist, wrap a piece of ribbon or string around your wrist and mark or cut your desired length. Then, use a ruler or measuring tape to determine the length.

If your bracelet doesn’t have an adjustable feature or different sizes, look to see if the brand offers resizing. This is a little more common for fine jewelry pieces, such as the Blue Nile Four Prong Diamond Tennis Bracelet. This classic tennis bracelet can be resized for an extra $100 fee.

Although it’s not as important as length, it might also be worth looking at the bracelet style. Some bracelet styles (especially those that are bulky or super heavy) can overwhelm a petite wrist. Daintier jewelry or slim bangles is always the way to go with a small wrist.
