PSA: If you want the best-fitting jeans, shop based on your body shape. Those with apple-shaped bodies might find that some jeans styles, like skinny jeans or any kind of tapered silhouette, make their outfits look a little less balanced. With some styling (and shopping) hacks, you can find a pair of really great jeans that fit like a glove.

TL;DR: Best Jeans for Apple Shape Bods

What Type of Jeans Should Apple Shapes Wear

Shopping for jeans based on body type is a little bit easier when you know what to avoid first. Celebrity stylist Samantha Brown says those with apple-shaped bodies should avoid skinny and tapered styles and instead go with straight leg, flare, or wide leg silhouettes. “[These styles] will help create volume at the bottom, balancing the middle section of the body,” she explains.

Can Apple Shape Bods Wear High-Waisted Jeans?

If you love high-waisted jeans and have an apple-shaped body, you can still rock your favorite fit. “Anyone can wear high-waisted jeans, as long as the fit through the leg helps to flatter the overall shape,” says Brown. She explains that a higher waist with a fit that falls directly from the hip down (like a wider leg or palazzo look) or one that flares will also help create a waistline.

The Best Jeans for Apple Shape Bodies

When shopping for the best jeans for apple-shaped bodies, look for features such as a little bit of stretch to accomodate the mid-section, and/or a denim material that isn’t super thick and rigid. “Jeans that are too stiff may add bulk,” says Brown. While it’s totally a personal preference, she also recommends a dark, uniform wash without any whiskering to help streamline the look.
