What Type of Jeans Look Best on Pear Shapes?

Certain jeans styles can highlight pear shapes and create a more balanced look. “Those with wider hips will look best in jeans that are bootcut or wide leg,” says celebrity stylist Samantha Brown. “By building some volume in the lower leg, it helps to balance out the width of the hip and thigh area.” 

In addition to these silhouettes, pear-shaped frames can make most denim styles work. However, Brown says some washes are more superior than others and to go with “a uniform or darker wash” for the most flattering look. 

The fabric can also make a difference. “Jeans with a bit of stretch will allow for more curve-hugging and a more tapered waist,” Brown notes. But that doesn’t mean you can’t go with 100% cotton denim. “If you like the look and feel of raw denim without stretch, you may need to go up a size and then taper the waist with a tailor.”
