Accessories are key for styling and adding a personalized touch to any look—even when getting dressed for work. No matter what your work dress code is, jewelry can help you customize outfits to make them feel a little more like you while remaining professional and presentable for any work environment. According to jewelry experts, finding the best jewelry for work is less about choosing boring styles that look like they belong in an office and more about finding what you’re comfortable in and bringing some personality to your everyday work looks.

Best Jewelry for Work at a Glance

What Type of Jewelry Is Best for Work

According to Kristy Cullinane, cofounder of Plum Diamonds, every type of jewelry is work appropriate. “The best advice I can give is to make sure the piece still feels like you—don’t buy jewelry because you think it will be suitable for work,” she explains. “Buy jewelry that makes you feel comfortable because more often than not, if it’s perfect for you, it’s ideal for work.”

If you are looking for specific jewelry for work, Cullinane says diamond studs, a simple chain bracelet (or necklace!), an understated pendant necklace, or even more fashion jewelry styles that make a statement are great. “Find versatile pieces [that] work with multiple outfits, and pieces you’d want to wear again,” she notes.

What Type of Jewelry to Avoid at Work

When shopping for work jewelry, Cullinane says to consider your daily schedule and tasks and opt for pieces that aren’t super distracting or noisy. “From one chunky bracelet lover to another, charms and bangles can sometimes get in the way of typing,” she notes. “If your job requires a heavy amount of computer work and you sit near your coworkers, I’d suggest saving those for the weekend, but that doesn’t mean these pieces can never be worn to work.”
