Brad Pitt is in limited contact with his kids. According to a source to People, he doesn’t talk to his adult children at all. “He has virtually no contact with the adult kids. His engagement with the younger kids is more limited in recent months because of his filming schedule,” the source confirmed. In June 2025, Us Weekly sources say that it’s the same. “They know about the deep emotional weight he carries, particularly about his family,” explains the source, noting that Pitt “has made several efforts to reconnect with his kids.” However, “the rest of the relationships are strained. It’s caused him a lot of heartbreak.” Here’s where they all stand with him.

Maddox

Maddox Jolie-Pitt is Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s oldest son who was adopted from Cambodia in 2002. Pitt has been working hard to regain Maddox’s, according to OK! Magazine’s sources.

Brad and Angelina split in September 2016 after an incident on their private jet involving their eldest son. At the time, a source told People that Brad was allegedly “drunk” and that “there was an argument between him and Angelina.” The source mentioned that Maddox stepped in, leading to “a parent-child argument which was not handled in the right way and escalated more than it should have.”
Pax

Pax is reportedly also not in contact with his father. He was adopted from Vietnam in 2007 by Angelina Jolie and formally adopted by Brad Pitt a year after.

In a private Instagram, Pax reportedly made a scathing post dedicated to his father. “Happy Father’s Day to this world-class a***hole! You time and time and again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person. You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence. You will never understand the damage you have done to my family because you are incapable of doing so. You have made the lives of those closest to me a constant hell. You may tell yourself and the world whatever you want, but the truth will come to light someday. So, Happy Father’s Day, you f***ing awful human being!”
Zahara

Zahara is also reportedly not close with her father Brad Pitt and is not in contact with him. Angelina Jolie adopted her from Ethiopia in 2005. She dropped Pitt from her last name. In November 2023, Zahara introduced herself with just her mom’s last name when she joined the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College.

“My name is Zahara Marley Jolie,” she said in a clip. “Coming all the way from the Golden State in the city that is full of angels, Los Angeles, California. … I am this line’s number seven.”
Shiloh

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Shiloh filed the paperwork to legally change her name to Shiloh Jolie instead of Jolie-Pitt on May 27, 2024—which also happened to be her 18th birthday. While the request hasn’t been approved yet, it appears to be in the works.

“Brad was blindsided by Shiloh dropping his last name, but he wasn’t surprised,” an insider told InTouchWeekly. “He feels that Angie has slowly but surely turned their kids against him. She absolutely influenced their decisions to distance themselves from their dad.”

The source went on to say that Brad feels like Angelina has something to do with it. “Shiloh did not give her dad the heads up about her decision. I mean how could she? He’s absolutely heartbroken, he’s really hurt because he was closest to Shiloh. He was unaware that their relationship changed, he really thought they were on good, solid ground,” they said.

Another source told People that it’s tough to see the change in public. “The reminders that he’s lost his children, is of course not easy for Brad. He loves his children and misses them. It’s very sad,” added the insider. He’s still happy with Ines [de Ramon],” the source continued, but the distance from his children “pains him.”
Vivienne

Vivienne is Knox’s fraternal twin. “In about three years, they’ll all be over 18,” a source told In Touch on February 27. “Brad is determined to regain their trust so he can continue to be in their lives as adults.” As for the older kids, Brad is hopeful that “one day there will be peace in their hearts,” according to the source.

Vivienne also dropped Pitt from her last name in her Playbill credits of The Outsiders, the Broadway musical on which she serves as a producer’s assistant. Angelina serves as a producer for the show.
Knox

Sources told OK! Magazine that Brad Pitt has “rebuilt” his relationship with Knox and Vivienne. Angelina described Knox to PEOPLE as “a lot like Brad, emotionally and physically.”

Sources close to the actor say that he spends time with the younger three. “Brad cherishes time with his kids and loves seeing them when he can, when he’s in town, once or twice a week,” an insider told OK! Magazine. “It’s definitely something he prioritizes.” The insider added: “Brad absolutely hasn’t given up hope on the others, and hopes one day there will be peace in their hearts.”
