Clinton Kane Addresses Brooke Schofield’s Claim He Lied About His Mom’s Death—TikTok Drama Explained

When they met

Kane apparently slid into Schofield’s DMs and he invited her to one of his shows in California. After the show, they had dinner and talked for hours. “He tells me his mom, his dad, and his brother all died in the same year, which is fucking horrible, like, obviously just unimaginable. So I’m like, blown away,” she detailed in part three of her series.

Their relationship was seemingly pretty intense and quickly became tumultuous. During arguments, “[He’d say] I remind him so much of his mother who was so horrible to him and I should be way more sensitive to everything that he is going through,” she said. “And of course I’m like, I get that, you know what I mean? The man lost three family members in one year.”

But soon after, cracks began to show…

“Everyone, my mom’s dead.”

In July 2022, Kane spoke about his mother’s death on The Zach Sang Show and laughed when host Sang used the present tense when discussing Kane’s mom. Sang said his mom “is” a Pentecostal pastor, which immediately made Kane chuckle. “‘Is,’ ‘was,'” he laughed, adding, “Everyone, my mom’s dead,” Kane said to the camera.

Schofield investigates…

According to Schofield, Kane tried to get the video taken down. Trawling through the comments section of the YouTube video, she says she found someone claiming to have grown up with Kane in Brunei—so, he’s not from Perth, Australia—and that his mom was very much alive.

Schofield then says she was able to find his mom on Facebook. When she confronted him about the apparent lies, she said Kane made her “feel so fucking horrible for ever possibly accusing him of lying about something like that.”

Schofield and Kane break up

When Schofield discovered Kane had been cheating on her, he broke up with her because of her accusation. Finally, she had the confidence to ask him again about his family.

“That got him,” she said in part 13 of her series. “He finally admitted that he did, in fact, fake the death of his mom and his brother.” She then joked, “I guess it’s like a positive. If you think about all his songs about how he wishes he could just talk to his mom one more time, it’s like, ‘call her.’”

Kane seemingly shades Brooke

On July 25, 2024, Kane appeared to shade Schofield on TikTok while promoting new music. “When you’ve been over the relationship for 2 years but she won’t stop yapping,” he wrote on TikTok.

The series begins

Schofield responded to his post with her 14-part series and this is how it all started. “He said, ‘she can’t stop yapping,’ I’m like, ‘I’ll show you yapping,'” Schofield said in part seven of her series.

“Anyway, it has now been two years since we’ve broken up, and he had the nerve to post a TikTok today saying that I cannot let it go, and I just want to go on record and say, ‘No fucking shit,’” she concluded her series in part 14. “Apparently, his new song comes out on Friday, and the man will do anything to get a stream. So honestly, you guys, do him a service. He needs money for therapy.”

Kane responds

In a statement to People, Kane’s rep confirmed that “Kane and Schofield had a brief, three-month relationship over two years ago” and that her “recent comments regarding Kane are untrue. The public rehashing of these details is only an attempt to bring attention and focus on Brooke’s podcast, at the expense of tearing down another former boyfriend—a tactic she’s become known for.”

The statement continued: “Kane was born in the Philippines, and lived in Australia for a time as a child. Despite moving frequently, he considers Australia to be his home. He has never been disingenuous about this.”

When it comes to his mother, his rep clarified that “Kane was lucky enough to have a very special mother-like figure in his teenage years, who sadly passed. Kane regrets the way this devastating news was communicated at the time [and] genuinely felt that he had lost an irreplaceable mother-figure. Kane was and largely is estranged from his immediate family.” 

Schofield responds

A rep for Schofield told People her response to the statement was “hahahaha.”
