Charlie Puth Revealed His Relationship With Selena Gomez ‘Really Messed’ Him Up in a Resurfaced Interview—Take a Look at His Dating History

Brooke Sansone (2022 – present)

Charlie Puth is currently married to Brooke Sansone, a digital marketing and PR coordinator whom he has known since high school.

He finally revealed that he was dating someone in an appearance on The Howard Stern show. “[She’s] someone that I grew up with,” he revealed about the new person in his life, and added how she knew him for a “long time.” “She’s always been very, very nice to me and I would assume that when times inevitably are hard in the future, because what is life without valleys and peaks, she would be there for me as well,” he added.

The two hardlaunched their relationship in Dec 2022 in an Instagram carousel. Just a couple months later in Sept. 2023, the songwriter proposed. “I flew to New York to ask my best friend to marry me, and she said yes,” Puth celebrated on Instagram. “I am the happiest, best version of myself and it is all because of you Brookie. I love you endlessly forever and ever and ever.”

The two said their “I dos” at Charlie Puth’s family home in Montecito in Sept 2024. “I wanted each detail to feel relaxed yet perfectly, thoughtfully curated,” Brooke said of the ceremony to Vogue. “Serving mini hotdogs on silver platters, for example, was more than just a fun detail. It was a reflection of my love for styles that blend the refined with the playful.”

Puth also said of the nuptials, “I love you Brooke…I always have, with you I am my very best. I promise I’ll love you everyday in this life, and even more when we move on to our next. Thank you for making me the happiest man alive. It has always been you.”

The happy couple announced they were expecting their first child together in Oct. 2024 in his music video for the song “Changes.”

Charlotte Lawrence (2019)

Charlie Puth was dating model Charlotte Lawerence in 2019 after he posted a photo of him hugging her on Valentine’s Day. However, the relationship was shortlived when he posted on Twitter (now X) in September of that year: “Only because I want ppl to stop asking the question….Yes I am single now…and please dont believe everything you read…thank you.”

When he was promoting his single “That’s Hilarious” in 2022, Charlie revealed the inspo behind it.  “I’m also really excited for you to hear it—but I just heard the master and it brought me back to 2019 which was the worst f—king year of my life,” he said in a TikTok. “I never told people what happened to me and the pain that I went through, going through the worst breakup of my life in 2019. I just wanted to throw it under the carpet and just start over and surround myself with better people.”

While the two stars never addressed their romance, Hollywood Life reported that the two were dating after Puth posted a FaceTime screenshot of him talking to Danielle.

Bella Thorne (2016 – 2017)

Charlie Puth and Bella Thorne were linked after they were spotted holding hands in Miami. However, the Shake It Up alum cleared up their relationship status on  SiriusXM’s The Jenny McCarthy Show, “I hung out with him twice. We went to the movies. He was cool. I was like, ‘Wow, you’re really talented. Holy sh*t. You’re f—ing great, dude.’ And then he invited me to Jingle Ball to watch him perform.”

However, she clarified that they weren’t dating after the songwriter read an article saying that she was still dating her ex Tyler Posey. “I don’t know Tyler personally, but I know he shouldn’t be treated this way,” he wrote on Twitter (now X). Bella later indirectly responded, “Ty and I have been broken up for like over two weeks and charlie and I ARENT DATING we are friends. That article was written forever ago.”

Selena Gomez (2016)

The “We Don’t Talk Anymore” collaborators did, in fact, date around the time that the song came out. “I don’t kiss and tell, but the only way a song like that can come across as real is if there’s something else going on behind the scenes,” he told  Billboard. “And that’s what was happening [with Selena]. Very short-lived, very small, but very impactful. And it really messed me up…And she evoked such good emotion on that song, it was a pleasure working with her. That’s why I’m always happy to sing it, even though it came from a dark point in my life.”
