U.S. District Judge Eleanor Ross sentenced Todd to 12 years’ imprisonment after they were indicted by a federal jury in 2019. According to a DOJ press release, Todd and his wife conspired to defraud community banks in the Atlanta area to obtain more than $36 million in personal loans. The bureau also listed that they used the money on luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate, and travel – and used new fraudulent loans to pay back old ones. The government also ordered the Chrisleys to pay $17.2 million in restitution.

“I did not scale our marital lifestyle to what I was making on Chrisley Knows Best,” she said. “That was not in my best interest because I didn’t know the longevity there and didn’t feel that I should be setting us up to live a lifestyle that could possibly not be maintained.”
