He asked if Spears had reached out to her about any mentions in the book. “Dude, I don’t know. I don’t know,” the “Feel This Moment” singer replied.  “I’m hoping that everything is all good with her. Everything’s beautiful. The future should be celebrated.”

Kimmel doubled down on the question, “If you had to choose between being in it and not being in it?”

Aguilera laughed, “I mean, for real? For real?” Kimmel replied, “I would like to be in it.” Aguilera then said, “Maybe you will be in it. Listen, I’d rather it be you than me.”

However during Spears’ conservatorship, Aguilera vocalized her support for her former co-star. On June 28, 2023, she posted a thread on X (formerly known as Twitter) about how she supports the #FreeBritney movement. “These past few days I’ve been thinking about Britney and everything she is going through,” she captioned a photo of her and Britney as kids. “It is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish. To be silenced, ignored, bullied or denied support by those ‘close’ to you is the most depleting, devastating and demeaning thing imaginable. The harmful mental and emotional damage this can take on a human spirit is nothing to be taken lightly.”

“Every woman must have the right to her own body, her own reproductive system, her own privacy, her own space, her own healing and her own happiness,” Aguilera tweeted. “While I am not behind the closed doors of this very layered & personal yet public conversation – all I can do is share from my heart on what I’ve heard, read and seen in the media. The conviction and desperation of this plea for freedom leads me to believe that this person I once knew has been living without compassion or decency from those in control.”

When Spears’s conservatorship ended, Aguilera expressed her support on The Enrique Santos Show. “I couldn’t be happier for her, every woman deserves to feel empowered and to own that for themselves, however they see fit,” she said. 

However, Aguilera unfollowed Spears on Instagram after the “Baby…One More Time” singer shamed her and her dancers. “I wish I could have chosen the nannies for my children … my dancers … I mean if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small. I mean why not talk about it??” Spears wrote on Instagram. “Don’t you think my confidence would have been a bit better if I could choose where I lived, ate, whom I called on the phone, dated and who was on stage with me.”

She wrote an apology the following day amid backlash. “By no means was I being critical of Christina’s beautiful body, it is what it is !!!” Spears wrote. “I flew to see her show once and the main thing I noticed was the difference of our people on stage !!! By no means did I even mention Christina, look at my post !!! I was inspired by her show and she is a beautiful woman of power … Thank you @xtina for inspiring me !!!”

Spears continued, “To be honest, I’m not trying to be critical of anybody. What I posted is a projection of the insecurities I deal with all the time as a result of how my parents and the media have treated me … I would never intentionally body shame anybody because I know what it feels like.”
