Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Boyfriend & Dating History, Including the Truth to Those Paul Mescal Rumors

Ben Seed (2023 – present)

Daisy Edgar-Jones and photographer Ben Seed took their relationship public in September 2023, but The Daily Mail reported that they’d been an item for months before then. Seed, who goes by the artist name Pip, is the ex-boyfriend of actor Anya Taylor-Joy.

The Sun reported that “Daisy and Pip got together earlier this year and have become inseparable,” according to a source. “They have both had some free time this summer and love hanging out in Broadway Market in East London, just going to bars and spending time together.” The insider continued, “There’s a real spark there and they are excited about finding each other. They’ve already met one another’s friends and she is on cloud nine.”

Rumored: Paul Mescal (2021)

Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal, her love interest in Normal People, had incredible on-screen chemistry, leading some people to wonder if it translated IRL, too. Sorry to disappoint, but they’re just good friends and have tremendous respect for each other.

In 2024 for the promotion of Twisters, she told Variety, “Paul is one of my lifetime best friends. He’s an incredibly grounded person and I am too, I think, so it’s nice to be able to have those touchstones and those people you can laugh about it with and be lighthearted with. We met when I was 20 and Paul was 22; I’m so excited to see where we’ll be at 32, 42, and what life will bring us.”

She also commented on the public’s continued interest in their relationship in an interview with the Sunday Times. “You watch with bemusement really, because it’s interesting to see what narratives people write in,” she said. “Usually they’re quite harmless and when I’m spotted it’s normally just a lot of, ‘Oh, that’s Whatsherface?’ And I say, ‘It is.’”

Tom Varey (2018-2020) 

At the beginning of Edgar-Jones’ fame, she was dating actor Tom Varey. They reportedly met in 2018 on the set of the limited series Pond Life.

In 2020 during an appearance on the How To Fail podcast, Edgar-Jones recalled what it was like having him watch her sex scenes in Normal People. “My boyfriend, actually, he was amazing because what a tricky thing to watch,” she said.

“He loves the series, thank goodness, that’s something I’m very relieved about, but there was a moment in episode six where he was like, ‘This is a bit weird! Oh, this is weird!’ and we all had to acknowledge that it was a bit weird, and then it was fine!” 

While they lived together during the London COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020, they decided to mutually call it quits due to their increasingly demanding schedules. “They got on really well during lockdown last year, but they’re both young and passionate about following their careers,” an insider told The Sun, adding, “Daisy has been inundated with opportunities and feels she has to put them first, Tom’s also really dedicated to his acting and wants the best for both of them.”
