So… Dave Grohl Just Admitted to Fathering a Child ‘Outside’ of His 20-Year Marriage

Daughter Violet

Born: April 15, 2006

Violet Grohl is Dave’s eldest daughter and she’s also a singer. She made her onstage debut at the age of 12 at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco in 2018 with her father. “I remember her saying, ‘Dad, you’re not even the best singer in the family,” he told the crowd, per NME.

“She loves Adele and she loves Die Antwoord. That’s my fault and I was like ‘watch this’ and showed her some crazy video. She even does the Afrikaans parts,” he said in another interview with the music magazine. In 2023, she stepped out on stage with her dad at Glastonbury Festival where the Foo Fighters performed under the pseudonym The ChurnUps.

Daughter Harper

Born: April 17, 2009

During a 2021 interview with The Graham Norton Show, Grohl detailed how Sir Paul McCartney gave Harper her very first piano lesson at age 5. “We have wine and pizza and we’re hanging out, and it was time for Paul to go,” he said. “Paul and [his wife] Nancy were leaving, and there was a piano in the corner of the room, and he just can’t help himself.”

“So he sits down at the piano and starts playing ‘Lady Madonna’ in my f—ing house!” the musician recalled. “My mind is blown. I can’t believe this is happening. This is like the most full-circle, crazy moment of my entire life.”

Grohl added, “[Harper had] never taken a lesson to play any instrument at that point, and she sat down and she watched his hands. They sat together, and he was showing her what to play, and they wrote a song together.”

On September 10, 2024, Harper appeared to have deactivated her Instagram account amid the news her father had been unfaithful and had a child with another woman.

Daughter Ophelia

Born: August 1, 2014

Ophelia Grohl is Dave’s second-youngest daughter and was born just a few days after the death of Dave’s father on August 6, 2014. “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away,” his post to Facebook read at the time.

His fourth, un-identified child

As mentioned, on September 10, 2024, Grohl announced he’d fathered another child, this time outside of his marriage. There’s no information as to who the mother is or when the child was born.
