One of the greatest soccer players in the world, David Beckham’s net worth and legacy are cemented in history.
He became Britain’s top dog when he played for Manchester United and won numerous titles with that team, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy and Paris St. Germain, before retiring in 2013. Since then, the Beckham brand has only expanded. When asked about how much he thought he was worth in 2017, he told CNBC, “I wouldn’t have a clue. But what I am proud of is that we’ve made it into a successful business, and that obviously coming from being a sportsman and then ready to jump into the business side of things, that it’s all about having the right people around you, the right friends, family (and the) right business partners,” he said.
“And that has helped me transition from being a football player to a businessman and that’s something that I’m excited about and very proud of. To put a price on it, I don’t think I could. I’ll leave that to someone else to decide.”
According to the Sunday Times Rich List, David Beckham, combined with his wife Victoria, has a net worth of £500 million ($635 million).
Outside of football, Beckham recently made a deal with Qatar to become the face of tourism in 2022. The 10-year deal made Beckham earn $177 million, but was heavily criticized due to Qatar’s human rights violations.
In an interview with the Telegraph, Beckham defended his decision: “I do a lot of research into partners that I’m going into business with. And I wanted to be involved in another World Cup. I like to see the game grow, and that means it going into territories it hasn’t been in before.” He continued, “My philosophy has always been that you don’t exclude people, because if you don’t engage and you don’t give people the opportunity, then the world doesn’t change. Engagement with that, for me, is more important than dismissing it.”
In 2014, Beckham founded DB Ventures which helps layout his plans for brand deals after football retirement like H&M, Adidas, Diageo, and L’Oreal. DB Ventures also controls his endorsement deals with Tudor watches and Haig, a whiskey company. In 2022, it was reported that David Beckham was selling a 55% stake in his management business to Authentic Brands Group (ABG).
This deal caused strain with his son, Brooklyn Beckham. In an anecdote about the lead-up to his wedding to Nicola Peltz, he revealed that his parents tried to sabotage his wedding before it happened. “Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children. They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.”
When joining FLS in 2007, Beckham received an option to purchase an expansion team at a price of $25 million. That dream came true in 2018 when Inter Miami was established and Beckham was one of the co-owners of the team alongside Jorge and Jose Mas.
In summer 2023, the team signed Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi which helped boost the team’s reputation. Beckham recalled that signing Messi was more emotional “than it should have been,’ Beckham said on the Stick it to Football podcast. ‘Just because for the last 10 years to try and get this team up and running in Miami, there’s been so many obstacles, so many challenges, and sometimes it looked like it wasn’t going to happen, and then obviously everything came together once I found the right partners in Miami.” Messi is reported to be earning a salary of $50-60 million a year with the two year deal.
In January 2026, his son Brooklyn Beckham accused his parents of “lies” about his marriage to Nicola Peltz. In one anecdote, he recalled, “Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children. They were adamant on me signing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated. My holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since.”
David Beckham broke his silence after the bombshell posts, and spoke to CNBC, “I have always spoken about social media and the power of social media. For the good and for the bad,” the famed soccer player said. “The bad we’ve talked about with what kids can access these days, it can be dangerous.”
“They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes,” he added. “That’s how they learn. That’s what I try to teach my kids, but, you know, you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.”
“What I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, use it for the right reasons,” he continued. “I’ve been able to use my platform and my following for UNICEF. And it has been the biggest tool to make people aware of what’s going on around the world for children.”

David Beckham’s football salary varied by each team. When Beckham was at Manchester United, it was reported by CNN that the footballer earned 15 million euros ($17 million at the time, $28 million today). Beckham later moved to Real Madrid where he was earning $29 million per year. He accepted a deal worth $9.5 million a year when he moved to play for Major League Soccer for the LA Galaxy in 2007. Beckham would later retire in 2013
On moving to LA, he said, “With me, it’s about football. I’m coming there to make a difference. I’m coming there to play football. I’m not saying me coming over to the States is going to make soccer the biggest sport in America. That would be difficult to achieve. Baseball, basketball, American football, they’ve been around. But I wouldn’t be doing this if I didn’t think I could make a difference.”
