More than two decades in the making, many fans of the franchise might ask: does Saw X have a post-credits scene?
The film’s synopsis is as follows: “Set between the events of Saw I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer – only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable.
“The infamous killer returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through devious, deranged, and ingenious traps.”
In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, producers Mark Burg and Oren Koules talked about the legacy of the films and why they chose to go back in the timeline. “We wanted to make this because it’s been 20 years. There’s new audience members all the time, a new generation watching. So we tried to make a movie that if you’ve never seen a Saw movie, you’d see the beginning, John Kramer coming out of an MRI, you’d see John Kramer meeting a doctor. You’d be able to understand this movie.”
So with the timeline sort of reset, does Saw X have a post-credits scene? Read more to find out.

Warning: Big spoilers for Saw X. In the post-credits scene of Saw X, Henry Kessler (played by Michael Beach) is taken by John Kramer (played by Tobin Bell) and Detective Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) for a new Jigsaw game. A device is strapped to Kessler’s chest and stomach alluding to the surgery he claimed cured his cancer. Kessler was actually part of Cecilia Pederson’s con where they would scam cancer patients of finding a cure.
The post-credits scene also finds the return of Mark Hoffman who takes over the Jigsaw mantle after the death of Kramer in Saw III. The movie teases his cameo when Kramer was on the phone with a detective twice throughout the movie, and behold it is one of the most iconic Saw characters.
The future of the Saw franchise is in the air according to the longtime producers of Saw.
“We’re superstitious, so we’ve never talked about the following ‘Saw’ until the previous movie opens. So if this movie works on October 2, we’ll sit down,” Burg said to IndieWire, before adding a caveat: “We left it open-ended, and I want to see what happens next.”
With the time jumps and infinite timelines of the franchise, there are endless possibilities. For what the producers regret, they recall, “If I had to do it again, I might not have killed Tobin Bell in ‘Saw III,’ Burg said with a laugh. “That might have been a mistake.”
The producers also slam the idea of recasting John Kramer if any other movies were to happen. “It seems unlikely,” they tell Comicbook.com. You know, Mads Mikkelsen took over from Anthony Hopkins (in the role of Hannibal Lecter) and, you know, we’d need somebody on that level.”
