spring/summer 2025 runways
Launchmetrics Spotlight. Design: Stephanie Cui / StyleCaster

There’s nothing more essential to a wardrobe than a dress. A good dress can last for years. Dresses can take you from day to night, from work to dinner, and everything in between. There’s a style for every figure and every shape. So, what makes a good dress, you ask? While fashion is and should be in the eye of the beholder, I like to consider a few things when determining if a dress is worthy of wearing. Will this dress make me feel confident? Is the quality good enough for multiple wears? Will it pair well with things I already have in my closet? From there, I think about the season I’m in (or preparing for).

As a fashion editor, I have the privilege of attending Fashion Week, and the spring/summer 2025 runways were filled with inspiration—especially when it came to dresses. The catwalks of major fashion houses like Naeem Khan, Nardos, Brand Maxwell, and Christian Siriano proved that glamor is back and better than ever. Dresses should be fun, bold, and beautiful and designers realized this idea by incorporating bold construction, reimagining fads from previous seasons, and presenting fresh finishes.

While digesting runway trends can be a bit intimidating in regards to styling and budget, I want you to think of the shows as a vision board for what can be. How can you work pieces of that avant-garde number into your wardrobe or how can that $5,000 design influence how you shop for your next big event. If you need someone to hold your hand through this thought process, I volunteer as tribute. Below, I’ve broken down the dress trends that took over the runways and added shoppable options that will help you embody these styles in your daily life.
