Ed Sheeran’s Ex’s Comments About Feeling ‘Disheartened’ Resurface Amid His Netflix Special—Look at His Dating History

Cherry Seaborn is Ed Sheeran’s current wife. The two were childhood friends, but didn’t get romantically involved until they reunited in New York City in 2015. In Dax Shepard’s podcast  Armchair Expert Sheeran revealed that if they had dated in high school, “it would have been a disaster.”

The two had hooked up before, but the feelings didn’t settle until their New York moment. “One day, she was in New York and she went to go out with Cherry because Cherry worked on Wall Street,” Sheeran shared about his touring buddy Lauren. “And then she was like, ‘Oh Cherry Seaborn is in town, do you want to hang out?’ I was like, ‘Yes.’ “

One of their official first dates was a party at Sheeran’s BFF Taylor Swift’s house.”I went on tour again, and then I went to Taylor’s Fourth of July party,” Sheeran told PEOPLE. I was texting [Seaborn], and she was like, ‘I’m in Rhode Island at a 4th of July party,’ and I was like, ‘So am I.’ I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history.”

 The two became engaged in 2017, with the musician posting on Instagram : “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well x.” Sheeran and Seaborn married in a private ceremony in January 2018. The two have children: Lyra Antarctica in 2020, followed by welcoming little Jupiter into the world in 2022.

Ed Sheeran reportedly briefly dated Nicole Scherzinger in 2015. “They were never serious and it’s now old news. The age gap was too big for them but they remain on good terms,” a source told Mirror.

Ed Sheeran dated Scottish star Nina Nesbitt in 2012 and their relationship was one of the most publicized among the “A Team” singer’s girlfriends. Sheeran was the subject of Nesbitt’s album Peroxide (2014) and Sheeran’s songs “Nina”, “Friends” and “Photograph” were all inspired by their relationship

In 2024, Nesbitt opened up about being the subject of a her ex’s songs on The Eras Podcast. “Yeah, I think it’s just got to come out,” she said. “There should be a disclaimer on songwriters, really. But I think it is what it is. I’ve definitely written songs about other people, so…”
