It’s a brand-new year, which means that we’re getting ready for an all-new lineup of cosmic moments—including a new subset of full moons. To utilize all the full moon magic of this year, here’s an extensive guide to every full moon of 2025.

But first, let’s talk about why it’s important to track full moons in the first place. A full moon occurs when the transiting sun is in direct opposition to the moon in the sky (duh). What this means on an astrological level is that the sun (identity, ego) lights up or reveals the moon—and thus, themes represented by the moon (inner emotions). It makes sense, then, why each full moon tends to provide major—perhaps even stark—clarity regarding how we feel about something or someone.

If we take this concept even deeper, full moons represent endings and closure, while new moons are all about new beginnings, opportunities, and new journeys. The moon takes about 29 days to travel around the sun. So, each full moon provides a sense of closure from the previous 29 days. You can take this even further by considering how a full moon in each sign provides a closure from the last time that sign was in its new moon phase—about 7 months prior. All this is to say, each full moon represents the end of a half-year chapter in your story.

Since full moons are about endings, they don’t have as much levity as new moons. But they do offer a sense of relief, because they are about detoxification, release, and letting go. With a bittersweet kind of taste, they help us create room for opportunities that the new moons bring. Read on for a full guide of every full moon in 2025.
