They may be playing one of TV’s most toxic couples in history, but in real life, Grace van Patten and Jackson White’s relationship has us smitten. The two met while making the acclaimed Hulu show Tell Me Lies and continue to show each other affection whenever they can.

Tell Me Lies is based on the novel by Carola Lovering and follows Lucy Albright (Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (White) and their turbulent relationship over the course of 8 years. Though the fictional relationship is painted in a scary light, Van Patten assures that the real relationship is nothing like what’s on screen. “It felt like we were on a reality show,” Van Patten told The Hollywood Reporter. “It was cool that people were so invested in these characters — but also a little scary because he’s not like that in real life, I swear.”

As for how she wants the public to perceive the relationship, she says she’s not worried about it. “I know a lot of the press around this show is very clickbait-y, but I’m not precious or paranoid about privacy,” she told the site. “Our relationship is out there, but not too much of it. I think that just treating our relationship professionally, the way we treat it in our own lives, is the best way to go about it.”

Are Grace Van Patten & Jackson White Still Together?

Yes, the two are very open about their love for each other!

Before the season 2 premiere of Tell Me Lies, Grace Van Patten told People that it was indeed “trippy” working with Jackson White since the two “are together in real life and he knows me better than anyone.”

She admitted to the publication that she was scared of blurring the lines between acting and real life, but in the end, she felt very safe. “I had this fear of, ‘You’re going to know when I’m acting.’ Before we got into it, I was like, ‘Am I going to be insecure? Am I going to be… Because you know me so well, you’re going to know.’ And then once we were on set, I was like, ‘No, it’s actually the opposite,’” she recalled. “It makes me feel so safe and so comfortable and able to go there and be vulnerable, because I’m so comfortable with him. And that part of it was so beautiful.”

As for filming those intense fight scenes, Patten says it’s “couples therapy. “It’s like, we get to fight and let it all out on camera and then we’re great.” She also points out that everything on camera is strictly on camera. “We’re wildly different, thank goodness.”

In an interview with Nylon before the Season 4 premire, van Patten revealed the secret to a long-lasting public relationship. “Our approach to [our relationship] is we’re not going to flaunt anything and we’re not going to hide anything, the actress confessed. “We’re going to live our lives the way we would if we weren’t on a show together because the second you start making those adjustments and accepting it, that’s when I’d start to feel really strange about life.”

“I’d so much rather be who I am and live my life how I live it and not adapt because now this part of me is under the microscope,” she adds. “It’s easy because even if we were never on the show together, I wouldn’t be posting a million posts about my boyfriend.”
