Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Responded to Claims He Never Ages as He Revealed His Secret to the ‘Fountain of Youth’ in a Resurfaced Interview

Green Day is one of the most influential punk rock bands in the world. The trio has been dominating the alternative airwaves since the late 80s, and they aren’t stopping any time soon even after their massive Super Bowl performance.

The band, consisting of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool was formed in 1986 in East Bay, Calif., after the former two went to elementary school together. “We were 10 years old, first time I met [Billie],” Dirnt told Consequence of Sound in December 2024. “One of the first conversations we ever had was about songwriting. We were just pointed into something that we thought was cool, ’cause at the time we were each struggling to mitigate our own home lives and things like that.”

Forty years later with hit albums like Dookie and American Idiot cementing themselves into American rock history and receiving honors like being inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Green Day’s members will always be young at heart. When an interviewer asked about why it seems like he’s never aged, Billie Joe Armstrong said, “I definitely age, I age every single day,” he said. ” I think trying to mentally keep youself in a place where you still have excitement in your life. And you’re in always in awe of something, And you always have that thing about you that you’re dreaming the next dream, and never resting your laurels and not going through the motions. To me, that’s the fountain of youth. It’s not about the wrinkles on your face, or the fat you get or the grey hairs. It’s just your zest for life.”
