Netflix’s You closes its final chapter with sweet revenge. Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is apprehended for all of his crimes and murders in the finale, but his list of victims is pretty expansive.

Season 5 of the hit Netflix thriller returns to New York City, where the serial killer goes back to his murderous ways with a brutal killing just in the first episode. A team led by Bronte (Madeline Brewer) conspires to catch Joe for the crimes he’s committed. The plan ultimately works in a fierce confrontation when Joe teases Bronte to kill him. “Kill me. I deserve it,” he yells at her while she responds, “Oh, you would f— love that, wouldn’t you. No way!” Instead of killing him, she shoots him in the penis.

On his character being the victim of vengeance, Badgley told Today that it was totally deserved. “You have to saddle them with that kind of a traumatic experience, especially because it would have been Bronte probably, or a woman. So I think he needed to end up alive in some kind of circumstance where he would have to contend with what he’s done — and to do it without his treasured genitalia… That’s a twist.”
