If you’ve watched Netflix’s latest true crime documentary, you might be wondering where Huei Hann is now. The father of Jennifer Pan has been keeping a low profile ever since his daughter was sentenced in prison for her murder attempt.

Pan gained notoriety for orchestrating a plot to have her parents murdered in 2010. She was born in 1986 in Toronto, Canada, to immigrant parents from Vietnam. Pan’s parents, Bich Ha and Huei Hann Pan, had high expectations for her academic success, pushing her to excel in school and pursue a career in medicine.

However, she was not performing as well academically as her parents believed. Rather than confront them with the truth, she went to elaborate lengths to deceive them. She forged report cards, claimed to be attending university when she was not, and even staged a fake graduation ceremony.

To maintain the illusion, she hired individuals to pose as her friends and even rented an apartment where she pretended to live while actually staying with her boyfriend. Eventually, the pressure of maintaining this façade led Jennifer Pan to plan her parents’ murder.

Netflix’s new feature-length documentary What Jennifer Did from director Jenny Popplewell (American Murder: The Family Next Door) uses police interrogation footage and testimony from those involved to unravel a web of complexities that no one saw coming.

Here’s where Huei Hann is now and what he thinks about his daughter.
