2025 Jewelry Trends at a Glance

This may have something to do with the phenomenon observed several awards seasons ago that female celebs were not wearing necklaces, letting their décolletages go totally bare. It’s still funny to me that that was such a story, but I do kind of get it. With small deviations and little acts of trend rebellion, we’ve been strongly sitting in an era of dainty, delicate, fine and demi-fine jewelry.

But much like during the last recession, the tides changed a lot, making the jewelry category expand into more general accessories. We saw the concept of “statement jewelry” take off, fabric chokers, earrings, and hair accessories often had feathers, ribbons, and other charms. A lot of the metal we were wearing came in the form of big necklaces, statement belts, and bag accessories. We saw long, dangling strand necklaces pop up on multiple Spring/Summer 2025 runways, from Chanel to Lacoste. We’ve seen chains and necklaces close to the neck and decolletage, mostly fine jewelry and delicate charms, so this clearly reflects a push off of that. Something more graphic, something louder, something more attention-grabbing.

Forgive me, I honestly didn’t know what to call this trend. “Statement jewelry” felt like I was just making fun of a version of myself that actually said that phrase in earnest back in, like, 2010. But alas…we have circled back to extremely dramatic, extremely costume — dare I say — statement jewelry. Think of it like a piece of jewelry that doesn’t need any other accessories (though do what you want; maximalism is always valid).

Little brooches and lapel decor have definitely been on the rise on the runways and in street style. It definitely evokes a more grown-up take on the the 2016-era enamel pin wearing rebel without a cause. It also seems like functionless, decorative-first accessories are more and more trending, from rhinestones to bows. TikTok’s favorite trend forecaster @oldloserinbrooklyn said she sees ribbons and larger pinnable wearables trending in the coming seasons.
