Beau Biden
Joseph Robinette “Beau” Biden III was Joe Biden’s first child and son. He was born on February 3, 1969, to Joe’s first wife Neilia. He survived the car crash that killed his younger sister and mother. He went on to follow his father’s footsteps into law and became a University of Pennsylvania graduate, and earned a law degree from Syracuse University in 1994. He served as a law clerk for a federal judge in New Hampshire before working for the U.S. Department of Justice from 1995 until 2002, including five years as a federal prosecutor in Philadelphia. He joined the Army National Guard as a major in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps in 2003. In 2007, he was elected as the Delaware attorney general where he would serve the role until his death. He married his wife, Hallie Olivere. They had two kids, Natalie Biden and Robert Biden II.
Beau Biden died at the age of 46 after a battle with brain cancer. He sought medical treatment at a Houston cancer center in 2013 after feeling “weak and disoriented.” At the time, the vice president and White House refused to discuss his condition, but doctors later said Biden had undergone surgery to remove a small lesion from his brain. He died at the age of 46 at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. His father founded the Beau Biden Foundation aimed to combat child abuse by educating adults and children.
