Daisy Kent, a 25-year-old Account Executive from Becker, Minnesota, was the runner-up of The Bachelor Season 28 with Joey Graziadei. Joey and Daisy broke up at the Final Rose Ceremony in The Bachelor Season 28 finale after Joey realized his feelings were stronger for his winner, Kelsey Anderson.

After his breakup with Daisy, Joey picked Kelsey A., a 25-year-old Junior Project Manager from Leesville, as his Bachelor winner at the Final Rose Ceremony and gave her his finalrose. He also proposed to Kelsey A., which she accepted and the two got engaged. Joey and Kelsey A. are still together after The Bachelor Season 28 finale, according to Reality Steve.

For Joey’s engagement, it’s almost certain the ring was designed by Neil Lane, a celebrity jeweler, who has created engagement rings for The Bachelor, The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise since 2008. In a 2016 interview with Entertainment Weekly, former host Chris Harrison revealed that Bachelor Nation couples have to stay together for a certain amount of time, otherwise they have to return the free engagement ring to Neil Lane. “There’s some rule, after a certain number of years, you get to keep it anyway,” he said. “But after months… it goes back.”

Lane told StyleCaster in 2016 that he doesn’t know where the rings go, but that he designs them with the hope that the couple stays together. “I make rings hoping that people stay together forever, but after they get the ring, I don’t have a say in it, and what happens after that, I don’t know,” he said. “Where the ring goes, I have to say, I don’t really know. I just say it goes to ring heaven.”

Reality Steve confirmed that Joey picked Kelsey A. as his winner in February 2024. He originally reported that Daisy was Joey’s winner in January 2024, however, he later corrected himself when fans discovered that Joey and Kelsey A. were at what looked like the same house for what was believed to be a “Safe House Visit,” a term also known as a “Happy Couple Weekend” to describe a secret date set up by producers between the Bachelor and his winner before the finale airs. According to a Reddit thread by user @sandbetweenhertoes, TikToks that Joey and Kelsey A. posted showed them in houses with the exact same microwave, cabinets, and backyard, which fans believed was confirmation that they were on a “Happy Couple Weekend.”

In The Bachelor Season 28 finale, Daisy realizes that she wasn’t Joey’s winner during their last date and goes to Kelsey’s room to tell her essentially, “It’s not me, it’s you. I’m gonna tell him that tomorrow,” which was a first for Bachelor Nation, according to Reality Steve. “Once the final 3 rose ceremony happens and it’s down to two people, those two never interact with each other, whether it’s Bachelor or Bachelorette season. They don’t want them chatting each other up and what not. So Daisy must’ve made a plea to producers (or producers thought it’d be a ‘first’ for a storyline) to let a girl who thinks she’s not getting picked to go talk to the other girl,” Reality Steve wrote. “And that’s what they did.”

Reality Steve described Daisy and Kelsey A.’s conversation as “supportive” and “straightforward.” At the Final Rose Ceremony, Daisy arrives first and tells Joey what she told Kelsey A. and they had a positive breakup. The scene after his breakup with Daisy was shown in the first two minutes of The Bachelor Season 28 premiere, which showed Joey taking off his jacket and talking to producers before Kelsey A. arrives to decompress what Daisy told him.

As of writing this, ABC hasn’t confirmed whether who the lead is for The Bachelorette Season 21, however, Reality Steve confirmed in March 2024 that the role of the next Bachelorette is between Daisy and Maria Georgas, a 29-year-old Executive Assistant from Kleinburg, Ontario, who came in fourth place on The Bachelor Season 28 with Joey Graziadei.

“This is probably a situation where it’s between Maria and Daisy,” Steve said in an episode of his podcat at the time. “I think the show is very well aware that they are deciding between Maria and Daisy, I do not think they have made a decision yet.”

He continued, “ABC can do whatever they want because they’ve got us all over a barrel just dissecting everything. They’ve told people in the past they are the lead, and all of a sudden they weren’t. Because they changed their mind at the last minute… It’s a 50/50 shot, it’s not like, oh my gosh, someone’s gonna come out of left field,” Steve said. “No, it’s more than likely, based on everything I’ve heard, going to be between Daisy or Maria.”

A source also told DeuxMoi in March 2024 that Daisy was in talks to become the next Bachelorette for 2024 after she was seen at dinner with two producers from The Bachelor franchise. “Hi Deux! Back again- and at Baltaire again too lol. Spotted daisy from The Bachelor CLEARLY in chats with 2 producers at dinner. Wining and dining her SO hard. Definitely chatting about next Bachelorette status- just wait for the announcement,” the source claimed.

Fans also believed that Daisy would be the next Bachelorette for 2024 because she was the “safe” option out of all of Joey’s contestants. “If the producers want to go the traditional route; Daisy for bachelorette,” a Reddit user wrote in March 2024. Another user commented, “Daisy is a very blank canvas with a good story and has been the second most popular contestant this season in terms of social media growth.” One more user wrote, “She is a very safe pick that the producers can mold whatever storylines they want to with her.”

If Daisy was the next Bachelorette, she would follow Season 13 Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, who also received the First Impression Rose on The Bachelor Season 21 with Nick Viall and became the Bachelorette. Daisy would also be the first Bachelorette with hearing loss. Daisy revealed on The Bachelor Season 28 that she received a cochlear implant in 2023 after losing her hearing from Lyme disease and Meniere’s disease, an inner ear condition that causes poor fluid balance in the ear and can destroy that cochlea, a hearing organ. “For me, walking into a big room and there’s a lot of voices and a lot of noises bouncing off the wall no matter where I am, it can be a little bit overwhelming because there’s so much sound coming in from different areas,” Daisy said in a TikTok video at the time of The Bachelor Season 28’s premiere.

Daisy was the second contestant on The Bachelor with hearing loss after Abigail Heringer on The Bachelor Season 25 with Matt James, who was born profoundly deaf and also had a cochlear implant at two years old.

Jesse hosted his first Bachelor franchise show in 2022 with The Bachelor Season 26 with Clayton Echard. During The Bachelor Season 5 finale, Jesse gave his Final Rose to Jessica Bowlin, but didn’t propose to her. Jesse and Jessica continued to date, but ended their relationship a few weeks after the finale of their Bachelor Season aired. In June 2020, Jesse and his girlfriend, Emely Fardo, married in an intimate wedding in New York City. Jesse told Us Weekly in November 2021 that he and Emely planned to marry in Provence, France, before the current health crisis cancelled their wedding date. “We had originally planned a wedding in Provence, France, for summer 2020, which was postponed until summer of 2021 due to the pandemic, but we didn’t want to wait any longer,” he said at the time. “So, we had a small, private and intimate ceremony with close friends who lived in New York City.”

Deadline reported at the time that Chris received a mid-range, eight-figure settlement as part of exit plan with ABC, the network that airs the Bachelor franchise, and Warner Bros. Television, the company that produces the Bachelor shows. The magazine also reported that Harrison’s settlement included a nondisclosure agreement. Chris’ decision to retire as Bachelor Nation’s host came after he was slammed for his response to Season 25 Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell’s racism scandal in February 2021. Rachael, the winner of Matt James’ season, faced backlash at the time when photos resurfaced of her at an Old South Antebellum-themed party at Georgia College in 2018. Before the pictures went viral, Rachael was already under controversy after her former high school classmate accused her on TikTok of bullying her and other students for dating Black men. Other TikTok users then exposed Rachael for liking social media photos of her friends in culturally insensitive costumes and with Confederate flags.

Chris came under controversy after he was interviewed about the scandal by Season 13 Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay on Extra. During the interview, Chris asked fans to give Rachael “grace” and explained that he didn’t find the Antebellum party photos offensive because they just looked like pictures a college student takes at a party. Harrison also questioned whether the photos would be considered racially insensitive in 2018 when they were taken. After the interview, many fans slammed Harrison and accused him of excusing Rachael’s behavior.

ABC confirmed in March 2021 that Chris wouldn’t host Season 17 of The Bachelorette and would be replaced by Tayshia and Kaitlyn. “Chris Harrison will not be hosting the next season of The Bachelorette,” ABC said in a statement at the time. “We support Chris in the work that he is committed to doing. In his absence, former Bachelorettes Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe will support the new Bachelorette through next season. As we continue the dialogue around achieving greater equity and inclusion within The Bachelor franchise, we are dedicated to improving the BIPOC representation of our crew, including among the executive producer ranks. These are important steps in effecting fundamental change so that our franchise is a celebration of love that is reflective of our world.” He officially retired as the Bachelor Nation’s host in June 2021.
