The Parents of Jonathan Keijer’s Kids ‘Pleaded with the Judge’ to Stop Him From Donating More Sperm

Natalie and Suzanne talked about the long and strange process of getting sperm from Jonathan are out spreading the word about the dangers of sperm donation. Like in the docuseries, they are still scared about the chances of someone related to Jonathan having children with their son. “We regulate what women do with their bodies,” Suzanne told The Mirror. “We regulate surrogacy. There are clear rules about this all around the world. Why can’t we tell people how much they can procreate? Why not? Because it’s men?”

“That’s why we’re still raising awareness, and hoping that there is a government that wants to put up legislation because that needs to happen,” says Natalie. “Not just in individual countries, but globally. He is not stopping at borders, and he’s not the only one. There are more out there.”

Today, Natalie and Suzanne are not in touch with Meijer. He blocked them both on WhatsApp, and they’re no longer able to talk to him about their son. 

Laura and Kate

Laura and Kate (not their real names) are a couple from Sydney, who contacted Jonathan and found out the sheer capacity of his donations. They were set up with him through Denmark-based Cryos, the largest international sperm and egg bank in the world. “How are they psychologically going to be able to deal with this information?” Laura asked. Like the rest of the families, they want to raise awareness about his actions.

Joyce & John

Joyce and John are a Dutch couple who were trying for a baby, but John had a vasectomy during his first marriage. They had two children with Jonathan’s sperm. “We really hoped that our kids would have his hair, because he had a beautiful head of curls,” said John.

Vanessa

Vanessa obtained sperm from Jonathan Meijer through a deal and paid his fee. She inseminated herself in the car soon after and was told that he only fathered 8 children. She later found out about his donation plans after she wanted her daughter to have another biological sibling. “He said, ‘I’m just helping women make their biggest wish come true,’” Vanessa said to The New York Times. “I said: ‘You’re not helping anymore! How do I tell my kids that they could possibly have 300 siblings?’”

Vanessa isn’t in contact with Meijer, but has sympathy with the parents of his children. “You have to prepare your kids for things you shouldn’t have to prepare them for,” says Vanessa, growing emotional. “It’s unfair – he has stolen their freedom. I can’t imagine how the mums of the teenage children are dealing now.”

Nicolette

Nicolette found out that she knew the mother of another of Jonathan’s donor children but their kids also attended the same pre-school – where they both work.
