The Real Reason Karol G & Anuel AA Broke Up & Who She’s Dating Now After Revealing She ‘Wanted to Die’

Feid (2023-present)

Karol G is currently dating singer Feid, who was one of the openers on her Bichota tour in 2021 The two became quick friends during the tour, and soon the relationship turned romantic. “Without realizing it, I was already writing love songs again about happiness,” the singer says in the documentary.

The two have not talked about their relationship publicly, but a 2023 Rolling Stone profile of Karol G confirmed their relationship status, including her phone background featuring a candid snap of Feid.

Feid, whose real name is Salomón Villada Hoyos, is a reggaeton singer from Medellín, Colombia, just like Karol G. Ironically, the two knew each other from their hometown, but didn’t keep in touch after they both embarked on their own careers. They reconnected in 2021. “There was a long time when we didn’t speak to each other, and I barely knew anything about him,” she told Rolling Stone in 2023.

The couple even wrote a song together in 2021, called “FRIKI.” Karol G also told Rolling Stone in 2023 that she and Feid have another unreleased collaboration, as she has a specific song called “Verano Rosa,” which he was planning to work on with her.

“It’s a song about heartbreak, which is the best part of it all,” Karol told the outlet then, adding that the song was unfinished because she hadn’t found the right collaborator. “[Feid] says, ‘I know you’ve thought of thousands of people and no one fits but … are you gonna let me get on that song?’ ”

Fans, however, are still waiting for this new collab. The couple, however, is still happily together, so there’s hope.

Anuel AA (2018-2022)

Karol G’s most high-profile relationship, mostly because of how it ended, was definitely with Anuel AA. The two met in 2018 while collaborating on the song “Culpables” and confirmed their relationship months later. And once the relationship was confirmed, it seemed like they were everywhere, often sharing photos and videos of each other on social media and collaborating on other songs, including “Secreto” and “Follow.”

However, the two announced their breakup in a joint statement on social media in April 2021. Later in 2021, the couple reconciled, and in October 2022 separated once again, posting another statement on social media.

There were rumors about Anuel AA’s supposed infidelity that surfaced almost immediately, though there were also reports that Karol G didn’t feel comfortable in the relationship. “She felt suffocated because the Boricua wanted them to tour together, make albums together, and did not leave room for her to continue growing on her own,” El Gordo y La Flaca reported.  “I wanted to die, I was crying horribly,” Karol said about the breakup in GQ‘s Global Creativity Awards issue.

In the documentary, there’s a little bit of the same. “My past relationship was really heavy. Getting out of it was toxic. I would wake up feeling like I was going to die. I felt like I had no value as a person. I couldn’t see the success. I couldn’t see the greatness,” Karol G says. “I felt like I wouldn’t be able to leave. When all you do is suffer—suffer, suffer, suffer—and you don’t leave because you’re afraid to suffer more. It was a f**king nightmare. A hell.”

But was there another woman? Anuel AA has always denied it, but songs like the one Karol G released with Shakira tell a different story. In TQG, or “Te Quede Grande,” or “I was Too Much For You,” Karol G implies the person she’s singing about, widely believed to be Anuel AA, left and go ta new girlfriend, but is now back trying to get back together with her but that won’t fly because she “doesn’t repeat mistakes.” Ouch.

Bull Nene (??)

Karol G’s first love was René Cano, known as Bull Nene, whom she met when she was just 15. It is unknown exactly how long they dated, but the relationship is said to have been serious to the point that they even moved in together. And though in the end, maintaining a long-distance relationship at such a young age didn’t work out, Karol G has said only good things about him.

In an interview with People en Español, she described him as a “wonderful person” who played a crucial role in encouraging her to pursue her career in music. She wrote her song “Ocean” about their breakup.
