Kate Hudson Revealed the Co-Parenting Situation With Her Exes Isn’t Very ‘Traditional’—See Who Her Fiancé Is & Her Dating History

Danny Fujikawa (2017-Present)

Hudson and fiancé Fujikawa were first linked in early 2017. The two had reportedly met over a decade earlier and had been friends for years. In December 2017, Hudson took to Instagram to share the story of their first date. “A year ago today Danny took me on a hike and what I thought was just a hike with a family friend turned very quickly into an unexpected first date,” the caption read. “No moves were made on this first date. In fact, it took months for him to make a first move … So on our 15th year of knowing each other we were able to open our hearts to each other to feel so much pure love and it’s been truly incredible!”

In October 2018, the pair welcomed their first child together, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa. Both mother and daughter joined Hudson’s mom Goldie Hawn on the cover of PEOPLE’s Beautiful Issue in 2020, with Hudson saying about Fujikawa. “He makes me feel beautiful every single moment of the day, even when we have fought. I still feel loved. His devotion to the family unit makes me feel safe and confident and secure.”

The two got engaged in September 2021, with Hudson once again sharing the news on instagram alongside a photo of the two together captioned “Let’s Go!”

Hudson has talked about co-parenting her three kids with three different fathers, saying, “It might not look traditional from the outside, but on the inside I feel like we’re killing it. The unit that I’ve created with three children with three different fathers is a seriously strong unit, and it’s ours.”

Nick Jonas (2015-2016)

Hudson and Nick Jonas had a fairly high-profile casual relationship, starting in September 2015 when they were first spotted together at Disney World. The two reportedly went on several dates afterward. “Kate’s incredible,” Jonas told Complex in February 2016. “We had an unbelievable connection as two humans who just admire things about each other, and see something in each other that’s beautiful.”

The two were last seen together in May 2016 at a Met Gala afterparty in N.Y.C.

In 2024, during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live, called the relationship “a moment in time” and said Jonas was “lovely, fun, kind … he’s like an old man in a young man’s body.”

Matthew Bellamy (2010-2014)

Hudson met the Muse frontman at Coachella in 2010, and things moved fast. “It was all very old-fashioned and proper, and we went on lovely dates,” Hudson told Elle UK in their May 2013 issue. “And two months later I was pregnant … Well, yes [I was shocked], but I also thought, ‘This is going to be interesting.’ “

The couple went on to get engaged in April 2011 and in July, Hudson welcomed son Bingham Hawn Bellamy. But the relationship wouldn’t last, with the two calling off the engagement in December of 2014.

Hudson reflected on the relationship in the October 2015 issue of Allure. “If Matt and I had a great relationship, we would still be together,” she said. “We chose to move on because we had different visions of how we wanted to live our lives. That doesn’t mean, though, that we can’t rebuild something that would be the best thing for the kids.”

Alex Rodriguez (2009)

Hudson and Rodriguez were first spotted together in May 2009, and Hudson attended a number of New York Yankees games that spring, with a source even telling PEOPLE at the time, “It’s somewhat serious. He introduced her to a bunch of his friends.” However, the two reportedly parted ways in December of that year.

Dax Shepard (2007)

Shepard and Hudson briefly dated for a few months in 2007, but they both have good memories of their time together. During an appearance on Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, Hudson said their time together was “a blast” and a “very memorable, very wonderful, fun experience.”

The couple called it quits because they “were in different places in our lives.” After the two ended their relationship, Shepard went on to meet his now-wife Kristen Bell.

Owen Wilson (2006-2009)

Wilson and Hudson dated on and off for three years, from 2006 to 2009. The pair first met on the set of You, Me and Dupree but reportedly didn’t start dating until September 2006. In 2009, after their third try at a relationship, a source told PEOPLE, “For now they’re off … again. It wasn’t a big thing. They’re great friends who slip into the dating world but they always come out of it being better friends than anything else they’ll still hang out but as far as the dating thing it’s over, for now.”

Chris Robinson (2000-2006)

Huson and Robinson, the lead singer of The Black Crowes, fell for each other pretty quickly. The two met at a party in May 2000 and were already living together a few days later. They went on to marry on New Year’s Eve, after less than a year of dating. Four years later the couple welcomed a son, Ryder Russell Robinson. “We’re sharing something so gigantic now. I think it’s the best we’ve ever felt being together,” the actress told PEOPLE in 2004 about her relationship with Robinson after the baby.

However, by August 2006 the couple had announced their separation. In a 2009 interview with The Times Online, Hudson reflected on the relationship. “When I met Chris it was like nothing else; I had no question that I was going to have a kid with him,” she shared. “Every rule went out the window. I just had no question about him, and I still don’t. He’s a permanent fixture in my life, but I believe our love changed its form, it shifted … I think we were meant to have a child, and we have this amazing little boy together and therefore we’ll be together our entire lives.”

The two have remained friendly over the years and have been seen together with their son.
