What is Kate Middleton’s response to the ‘royal racist’ alleged leak?

Like so many other royal scandals, Kate Middleton nor Buckingham Palace have made any official statements. According to The Telegraph, though, a source said: “We are considering all options,” including legal action, against Piers Morgan, who revealed the names of the royals who allegedly questioned the color of Archie’s skin while Meghan Markle was pregnant.

“I’m going to cut through all this crap,” he said during an episode of his show Piers Morgan Uncensored. “I’m going to tell you the names of the two senior royals who are named in that Dutch version because if, frankly, Dutch people wandering into a bookshop can pick it up and see these names, then you, British people who actually pay for the British royal family—you’re entitled to know too.”

He continued: “Then we can have a debate about his whole farrago because I don’t believe any racist comments were ever made by any of the royal family and until there is actual evidence of those comments being made, I will never believe it. But now we can start the process to find out if they ever got uttered, what the context was and whether there was any racial intent at all. … The Royals who are named in this book are King Charles and Catherine, Princess of Wales.” Of course, StyleCaster nor other members of the media can independently confirm whether this is true and it’s all conjecture.

What does Endgame say?

The royals’ identity was accidentally revealed in Dutch copies of the book but Xander Publishers confirmed to Page Six that it received a request to abruptly halt sales on the biography and a statement on the publisher’s website confirmed the book would be rereleased during the first week of December.

“The corrected edition of Endgame by Omid Scobie will be available in bookstores on Friday, December 8. Xander Uitgevers was forced to temporarily withdraw the book from the market because an error had occurred in the Dutch edition.”

A spokesperson for the publishing house told the Daily Mail said: “I can’t talk about the details. We have, however, received a request to put the title on hold and that is what we have done. We have, however, received a request to put the title on hold, and that is what we have done,” the rep continued. “We are awaiting further instructions. I do not know how long this will be.”

An early copy sent to Dutch journalists did include the person’s identity and members of the media who did view the book told Page Six it does match previous claims released by royal biographies from last year.

The published passage reads, “Even after Meghan and Charles by letter discussed about probable unconscious bias within the family after it was revealed that [redacted] took part in such conversations about Archie, [redacted] has avoided discussing the subject with [redacted].”

What was Omid Scobie’s reaction to the alleged leak?

Omid Scobie has since had to defend himself amid a flurry of chaos, insisting that he did not name the royal in question and blamed a “translation error” for the misprint. “The book is in several languages, and unfortunately, I do not speak Dutch. But if there are translation errors, I’m sure the publishers will have it under control,’ he told Dutch chat show RTL Boulevard.

“I wrote and edited the English version. There’s never been no version that I’ve produced that has names in it.” Referring to letters written between Meghan and the King discussing the issue, it reads: ‘But in those private letters [the identity] was confirmed: ….’ [the Mail has redacted the name concerned]” per the Daily Mail.

On November 29, the day after the first scandal broke, reports surfaced that a second royal was named in the Dutch translation of the book. Dutch royal journalist Rick Evers, who has read the translated version, said on ITV’s Good Morning Britain that the first name was “very specific”, while the second one was “a little bit vague”, per The Independent.

Evers said he doubted Scobie’s “translation error” defense, saying: “I can’t believe that it was a translation error,” he explained. “We saw some passages were missing in the English version. Like five sentences between the first and third part that wasn’t in the English version. So something has been erased during the work that has been done for the book.” He added that the names were in Scobie’s original manuscript but “legal agents” advised against them being included in the final copy.

In the book, Scobie wrote that he did know the identity of the Royals who made such comments about the color of Archie’s skin but “laws in the United Kingdom prevent me from reporting who they were”.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, the author said: “I hope that people understand that despite press coverage, this is not a book about Harry and Meghan. This is not Finding Freedom part two. It’s a really important look at the current state of the British royal family written in a way I don’t think anyone has ever done before at a time when I think is more important than ever. And I hope that rather than trying to ignore or reject this kind of dialogue that it’s embraced because I think that ultimately it always leads to better things.”

He continued: “Britain is changing at a rate the royal family could never understand because it is a slow moving institution, and it is not a reactive institution. It puts them in a very different time to what they’ve known in the past, but they are confronting the issues that are raised in front of them, such as the race issues, slavery in the past, the relationship with the press, the darker things that go on behind the scenes with the treatment of family members. These things that can all be addressed and improved on and worked on moving forwards.”
