James Righton (2011-Present)

According to PEOPLE, Knightley and musician James Righton were introduced by a mutual friend in 2011 and the two hit it off right away. The couple got engaged in 2012 and married in 2013, in a ceremony that reportedly only had 11 guests. Righton later told NME about that day, “It was the greatest day ever, it was fantastic. We’re still high from it.”

In 2015, the couple welcomed their first child together, Edie, and in 2019 the family of three became a family of four with the addition of Delilah. The two value their privacy very much, but occasionally attend public events together, like fashion shows and launch parties.

Rupert Friend (2006-2011)

Knightley and Friend met on the set of Pride and Prejudice and went on to date for years. The two kept the relationship largely private, and when they broke up it was reported that one of the reasons they did so was the constant paparazzi attention. The Daily Mail quoted friends after the split saying, “Rupert hates the idea of being followed and photographed. Keira partially had to accept it because of her rising profile . . . Knightley and Dornan dated for a couple of years after meeting during a photo shoot campaign for Asprey, a UK-based jewelry retailer. They also kept their relationship very private, and there aren’t many details about why they broke up, only that by 2005, the relationship was done. At the time, Dornan’s reps told PEOPLE, “Keira and Jamie have decided to call a halt to their relationship in its current phase but they remain completely committed to each other as friends and will continue to see each other in this capacity.”
