With the A24 biopic based on his family dominating pop culture conversations, and generating Awards Season buzz, the answer to the question of where is Kevin Von Erich now is a little sad, given he’s the only surviving Von Erich brother. The tragic deaths of David, Mike, and Chris had a profound impact on the family and the wider wrestling community.

Born Kevin Ross Adkisson on May 15, 1957, in Belleville, Illinois. Along with his brothers David, Kerry, Mike, and Chris, Kevin became part of the Von Erich wrestling dynasty. The boys’ father, Fritz Von Erich, was not only a successful wrestler but also a promoter. He played a key role in establishing World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) in Texas—Kevin achieved significant success in WCCW, where he became a fan favorite and a major draw.

The family serves as the inspiration for the film The Iron Claw, starring Zac Efron as Kevin; Jeremy Allen White as Kerry Von Erich, and Harris Dickinson as David Von Erich; however the youngest of the brothers, Chris Von Erich was not included in the screenplay, to limit the film’s runtime. Chris died by suicide at age 21. “That was one of the toughest decisions I had to make,” director Sean Durkin told Entertainment Weekly of leaving Chris out of the on-screen narrative. “You could make nine hours of The Godfather on this family. I didn’t have that opportunity, so I had to make choices of what could fit in a movie.”

He continued, explaining how he wove parts of Chris’ story and personality into the character of Mike, played by Stanley Simons. “We made a choice to narrow [the focus] while trying to keep the essence of him,” he said. With all that said, here’s where is Kevin Von Erich now.
