A new Game of Thrones spinoff is premiering, and many fans want to know what these actors look like outside of Westeros. A Knight of Seven Kingdoms takes place between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, and explores more of the Targaryen family tree and their messy family drama.
The show is based on George R.R. Martin’s novellas Tales of Dunk and Egg, which depict the tight bond between hedge knight Ser Duncan and his squire Aegon Targaryen. Unlike its predecessors, we won’t see any dragons or fierce battles in the HBO Max show. “The show is meant to be a very different type,” says Martin to The Hollywood Reporter, who co-created and executive-produced the show. “It turned out very well, and I’m very happy with season one. The casting was a home run. [Showrunner Ira Parker] is terrific and seems to have the same priorities I do — he’s trying to do something that’s very true to the characters.”

Unlike all the mysticism and magic that we all know from GoT, this show will focus more on the darker, basic things about the fictional land. “Nobody’s thinking about magic,” showrunner Ira Parker told Entertainment Weekly. “This could basically be 14th century Britain. This is hard nose, grind it out, gritty, medieval knights, cold with a really light, hopeful touch. It’s a wonderful place to be. We are ground up in this series, we are starting right at the bottom. We’re not with the lords and ladies, the kings and queens.”
And don’t expect the extravagance in this show. “That’s not really Dunk’s M.O. He’s plain and he’s simple and he’s to-the-point. He doesn’t have a lot of flash to him.”
