Laci Peterson’s murder was one of the most high-profile crimes of the last few decades. Photos taken at the crime scene, where her body was found and corresponding evidence, depict a desperate search for the mother-to-be—Laci was eight months pregnant when she disappeared.

Her husband, Scott, was eventually charged and convicted of her murder after his affair with Amber Frey was uncovered. Frey was actually the one who called the police on Scott when she saw that Laci was missing on the news and him wanting to escape his marriage to be with her was the perfect motive.

Laci’s body was found four months after she disappeared. Her remains washed up in the San Francisco Bay and were discovered in April 2003. Peterson’s head and parts of her limbs were missing when her body was discovered.
Scott was arrested the same day Laci’s body was found.
After Laci and Conner’s bodies were found, a makeshift memorial was erected outside the home where Scott and Laci Peterson lived and included hundreds of flowers, candles, and stuffed toys.
