Suzanne and Avery
63-year-old optometrist Suzanne Doty came into the show looking for love once more after losing her husband of 27 years. “Suzanne found what many people in their lives never find, which is this one great love,” coach Logan Ury said in Episode 1. “And so, for Suzanne, it’s really going to be about understanding that maybe what she’s looking for now is more of companionship or a travel partner.”
She found that connection in a 59-year-old financial adviser named Avery—even though there were red flags early on, he roots for Alabama’s football team, and she roots for Georgia. But with Avery willing to go with her to a Georgia game, it seemed like that wasn’t going to be the big deal she thought it would be. And though Suzanne went on other blind dates, in the end, she could not stop thinking about Avery.
By the end of the show, the two had been seeing each other for two months and shared that though they were open to marriage, they were not going to rush. “We’re just taking it one day at a time,” Avery said. “We’re just going to see where it goes. And I think that takes a lot of pressure off of both of us and so far, it’s been working.”
There’s been no update about their relationship, for better or worse, which makes us think that they are probably still together, and also that Netflix must be planning something. It’s a little suspicious how everyone is keeping these relationship updates under wraps, isn’t it? All Suzanne has said post-filming is that she remains “very good friends” with the men she didn’t pursue on the show. Suspicious indeed.
