Liam Payne’s Autopsy Reveals Multiple Drugs Were Found in His System Before His Death

October 21, 2024: Liam Payne’s partial autopsy is revealed

Sources told ABC that multiple drugs were found in Liam Payne’s system in a partial autopsy. Those substances ncluded “pink cocaine” – a recreational drug that typically is a mix of several drugs including methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and others – as well as cocaine, benzodiazepine, and crack. An improvised aluminum pipe to ingest drugs was also found in his hotel room. Liam Payne’s body will remain in Argentina until the autopsy is complete.

Argentine news outlet La Nacion reported that the former One Direction singer’s room at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel had a smashed television, a half-filled champagne glass, and foil and white powder scattered. Wax and aluminum foil were found in the bathtub. A green lighter and a container of Dove soap also appeared in the hotel room.

October 16, 2024: 911 Call Says Liam Payne was under the influence of drugs and alcohol

According to a BBC transcription of the 911 call that alerted officials to go to Liam Payne’s hotel, the staff member warned the dispatcher that Liam was acting erratic. “Well, we’ve got a guest who has had too many drugs and alcohol and, well, when he is conscious he is trashing the entire room and we need you to send someone, please,” the translated transcription said. The staff member also told the dispatcher that “his life may be in danger, the guest’s life. He is in a room with a balcony.”

2023: Liam Payne reveals he spent 100 days in rehab

Liam Payne posted a video on his YouTube channel explaining that he spent 100 days in rehab and was now six months sober in July 2023.

“I just kind of feel like I’ve got more of a grip on life and everything that was getting away from me, I just feel like I’ve got more of a handle on it,” Liam Payne said about his recovery. “I just needed to take a little bit of time out for myself actually because I kind of became somebody who I didn’t really recognize anymore. And I’m sure you guys didn’t either. I was in bad shape up until that point and I was really happy to kind of put a stopper to life and work.”

He also didn’t have contact with anyone outside of rehab during his stint. “I didn’t have my phone for nearly 100 days,” the “Strip That Down” artist said. “I didn’t connect with the outside world at all. Upon leaving, the hardest part was turning the phone back on because it was a little bit scary.”

As for what sparked his decision to change his life, he said that going to see a Hans Zimmer performance in Dubai helped him realize his stance on drinking. “I watching this beautiful symphony, I was having a drink, and I thought, ‘You know what, this isn’t really serving me at all, I don’t really need this right now,’ ” Payne recalled. “It’s the first time I’ve ever put a drink down and gone to someone else, ‘You finish this, I don’t need this right now.’ And I haven’t picked one up since, which has almost been six months, which I’m excited about.”

He apologized for his remarks on Logan Paul’s podcast. “A lot of what I said came from the wrong place,” Payne said on Saturday, “I was so angry at what was going on around me and instead of taking a look inwards I decided to look outwards at everybody else and I took it out on everybody else, which is just wrong, really.” He also said that the One Direction members, including Zayn, “really stood by” him during the difficult period of his life “There is a point when you hit rock bottom and you realise you have got to do something different as whatever you are doing right now isn’t working for you,” he said. “I was in bad shape up until that point.”

In a guest spot on Jake Paul’s podcast Impaulsive, Liam Payne appeared to be intoxicated while he was telling stories about his One Direction days. One infamous moment from the interview included a time when he talked about a member, now known to be Zayn Malik, who pinned him against a wall. “There was one moment where there was an argument backstage, and one member, in particular, threw me up a wall. He talked about how the pressure of being in the boyband contributed to his alcoholism. “There were a few pictures of me on a boat and I was all bloated out and I call it my pills-and-booze face. My face was 10 times bigger than it is now. The problem was, the best way to secure us was to lock us in our rooms, and what is in the room? A mini-bar. So I had a party-for-one that seemed to carry on for years. It was wild but the only way you could get frustration out.”

“I still feel like a child in so many ways. There is no link between money and happiness. It is a myth. Money is the ability to relax on certain things,” he said. He talked about how he was happy when One Direction announced their disbandment. “The day the band ended, I was like, ‘Thank the Lord.’ I know a lot of people are going to be mad at me for saying that, but I needed to stop or it would kill me.”
