Twisted love. If you’ve watched Lover, Stalker, Killer on Netflix, you might be wondering where Liz Golyar is now after she was accused of the murder of Cari Farver. Her former lover Dave Kroupa tells the story about how one woman he dated killed another and impersonated her.
The story starts when Kroupa separated from his long-term partner. After joining a dating site, he started casually seeing 42-year-old housekeeper Shanna “Liz” Golyar. The two agreed that they could see other people and weren’t exclusive. Kroupa ended up seeing another woman Cari Farver.
Though the latter two ended up only dating for a short while, Farver messaged Kroupa asking if they could move in together. When he declined, she started sending streams of abusive texts. Golyar appeared to have her car keyed, and suggested that it was Farver. Later, Golyar’s house was burned down.
However, with some digging from investigators, it was revealed that Golyar was the mastermind behind all of this—killing and impersonating Farver and even burning down her own house.

Where is Liz Golyar now? Golyar is currently serving a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole at the Nebraska Correctional Center for Women.
She was found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole. She is also serving an additional 18 to 20 years for arson and trying to frame Farver for burning down her home.
Dave Kroupa said that he met Liz Golyar on the dating website Plenty Of Fish. “She seemed very cool, very down to Earth,” Kroupa said in Lover, Stalker, Killer of his ex-girlfriend. “Very smiley, very energetic, very full of life.” He recalled that they had a lot of commonalities with each other with shared passions for motorcycles, heavy metal music and sci-fi movies. What they really bonded over was that they both had a son and daughter.
“We were both lonely,” Kroupa said. Their first date went well, and they began seeing each other somewhat regularly in downtown Omaha. “It was exactly the right mix: I had my personal space, but there was someone around if I wanted to chat or hang out,” Kroupa said. “It was exactly what I needed at that part of my life. As early as my first date, I had made it clear to Liz [that] I absolutely was not going to be tied down.”
Liz Golyar was caught after authorities found data that proved she was the one sending Kroupa and herself the abusive messages.
In 2017, the authorities discovered an old SD card belonging to Golyar and found deleted photos that showed Farver’s dead body. The blood and digital evidence were enough for them to arrest Golyar.
“Somehow Liz knew where Cari’s vehicle was before law enforcement even did,” Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Jim Doty told ABC News. “Another thing we found on the phone download was there were six calls that were made to Cari’s residence. It was using the *67 prefix to disguise the number, so Liz was calling Cari six times. This didn’t make sense to us because she said she’d only met Cari one time passing through a hallway.”
